Just want to see if I can upload pics the same as my last forum.

This is the engine out of my old Cossy Granada.

It's a Chevy 383 (6.3) stroker with a Vortech supercharger.

I just bought the s/c as a spare part and made all the brackets and pulleys etc to fit.

The plan is to drop this in my newly aquired Z over the coming winter.

The injection system was a Holley Commander but I had to sell this to fund the Z purchase, but now I know how to build/map injection stuff I'll probably make my own next time and run it with the Emerald ecu.

Engine fits on a Tremec TKO500 box.

Ok, try putting the pic in.....supercharger014.jpg[/img]

That looks yummy, but will it fit?

Not much at the minute, too much boost and crap pistons = hole!

Putting Eagle crank and rods in with hypereutectic pistons. Had a water injection system to stop detonation but it failed just at the wrong time.

Rest is mild supercharger friendly cam, Trick Flow heads, roller rockers, big wing sump, new ZZ4 block, steel flywheel etc

Can I have it for my Stingray

Should fit no problem, PAS Pump? on RHS might be an issue but sure that's easy fixed.

Good luck with it.

Thanks chaps.

Power? I've had big cams etc in the past and whilst they are exciting for 5% of the time, the rest of the time they are a pain, so with this engine I wanted a very mild cam, no jerking or misfiring, loads of low down grunt, and then boost the top end with the supercharger.

It was coming together nicely too, until the pistons blew. They went at about 5500rpm and around 450fwhp. It was putting out 7psi when it went.

They say the s/c will go to 20psi but wouldn't like to try it!

To be honest the Granada felt unbelievable just before it blew, so I think 500fwhp ought to be enough.

I've learnt engine tuning is all about trade-offs, you gain here, but you lose there.

The s/c seems to be all gain tho. Would probably try twin turbos if I didn't already have the s/c.

I've never really been into 0-60 times etc, to me real performance is where you are already doing 70 say, and then boot it. Thats where the real grunt comes in and the Scoobies etc get left in a pile of dust.I just managed to get an in gear time in before engine blew. This is in 4th gear, and it did 70-100 in 3.8sec. Gear ratio is 21mph/1000rpm.

Cheers, Keith.

I live near the sports centre in belper, I always put derby on the location because no one knows were belper is! I'll give you a ring some time and come look at your chevy! At work at the mo in notts skiving as usual! But might give you a ring at some point over the weekend/next week.
