Blacked out rear lights

Featured Replies

A little bit of black paint mixed in with clear laquer. You dont need brighter bulbs. Thats what Macs is and it works a treat, you cant even tell when the lights are on.

You can get tinting spray in cans from any car accessory shop. Did it to my carlton just got to take lights off and spray them.

You can also buy stuff to take it off again if you dont like it.

You can get the spray tint from Halfords etc. A rip off at about £15 squids but I used it on mine.

Just make sure you remove the lights to spay them. I cheated and masked off the lights and sprayed em on the car.

Looks OK but up close there are a couple of streaky runs which wouldn't have happened if the lights were on a flat surface.

is it not an MOT fail??

Not worth pissing about with spray cans; if it goes wrong a whole new rear aint cheap!

Plus the fact those 'tint in a can' tend to leave a rough finish especially on a large area...

Best to get someone who knows what there doing ie a sprayer biggrin.gif and the mix is paint with laquer; build up very light coats (mine only needed two)

I only paid £50 but I know a lot of the wrong people!

so my point about NOT using canned tint stands!

PS as said by Mac, no need to change bulbs when spraying black...

Robb that shit in a can is real bad,Ask ChrisC he used it got runs all over, and had to use brighter bulbs as you can't see them when they are on frown.gif.

Yup, it's crap. Still looks good from a distance - see my rides (now updated) but nothing like the quality of Macca's and brighter bulbs have made sod all difference.
