As some of you will know, ive been disputing a payment i made for an item off ebay that never arrived. I gave the guy selling it loads of time (and bloody emails!) to sort this out but with no resolution.

I escalated it with payapl to a dispute and the guy never replied in the time required so it was resolved in my favour. The end i thought, id get my cash back and all would be well.

Except, i checked my paypal account today, and it said that they had tried to obtain the cash back from his paypal account but he didnjt have any money in it so they were able to recover £0.00 !!!

". We have taken action against the seller and are working to recover the remainder of your refund. We will contact you when we have more information"

Does this mean i will get my cash back or what guys? This seems a pointless system at the moment as ive had nothing back!

tbh I doubt you will see anything from paypal. I assume you have his address, pay him a visit maybe.

What protection??? I have been through similar and paypal looked into it, emailed me to say I had won the dispute but as the seller did not have any funds in there paypal account I would not be getting a refund, write it off or go round pay them a visit, worked for me ;)

thought about going around there, but to be honest it would cost me about the same in petrol as im owed (£87). I think its bloody criminal that payapl advertises upto £500 protection yet they actually do nothing for you.

i made a payment to skype for a £10 call credit to my account.....but the payment was cancelled even though the payment went thru and skype said it will be refunded by paypal. Yeh right im still waiting for this refund and its been 9 weeks, im not giving up till this matter is resolved....

I was giving this link from a friend about paypal...http://paypalsucks.com/

Well, im emptying my account on paypal, and probably not going to use it much again if i can help it. I always thought they would cover your ass if it was under £500, im only asking for £87 back and they have just done nothing for me!

Good point, never thought, yes i did and im pretty sure it was my barclaycard so maybe extra protection in that dept?

If you have his address, go online to your local County Court, and issue a summons against him. It will cost you £32, which will be added to your £87, and served on him within a week. He then has 14 days to pay, thats all of it your £87 plus the costs of the summons. If he still does not pay, you can then obtain a judgement against him which will affect his ability to get credit, i.e.mortgages, loans and of course a mobile phone on contract. You can then also instruct the court to send a bailiff round to collect goods to the value. I do not think it will get that far, as they usually pay on receipt of the court summons. (My experience involving about 10 of them)

Just checked barclays terms and conditions and they only cover new purchases, not second hand ones. Out on that front!

I have to agree this is a simple and fast way of giving the person some sh*t

Paypal and Ebay are a waste of time when it comes to disputes.

They have a complicated and time consuming system which is frustrating at the best of times.

Paypal is one of those things where: when you have no problems its great! When you have a problem its less than useless!

I’ve had two problems as both a buyer and seller in the past. Good luck if you decide to fight it, after months of messing around and loads of stress I gave up on both, which is exactly what Paypal want you to do.

Not sure if it is still allowed, but before eBay bought Paypal, there were some very very scary stories about Paypal on the eBay forums, but I would suspect that these are censored now that eBay owns Paypal.
