Although I love my new chrome alloys.....

attachment.php?attachmentid=23792&stc=1

I am seriously considering having my OEM alloys chromed and put back on.....

attachment.php?attachmentid=23793&stc=1

I've just put my OEM ones back on temporarily, while I clean the new ones ready for Japshow this weekend, and have found just how much smoother a ride they give over the 18's. Also having the OEM ones chromed would be more in-keeping with my 99 spec feel to the car.

So, opinions???

PS: Don't get me wrong, I love the chrome ones, and I've had so many good comments about them, it's just that I was considering this route before these alloys came up for sale in the first place.

18" x 8.5 Front (I think) and x 9.5 Rear. Complete with tyres (good tread, only about 800 miles from new), wheels nuts, locking nuts and key.

Offers accepted around the £450 area :) (Pick up only)

These would only be available once my OEM ones have been chromed.

Sarah, are you coming down to Santa pod on Sunday? If you are you can have a good look and a feel (and the wheels if you want  :x: )

i will be yes on the cobra sport stand.!!

Just found these pics...

Those don't have the proper centre caps, but I know I can get hold of the OEM chrome ones :D

TBH, I do know how hard it is to keep these in tip-top condition, especially as I use the Zed as my daily driver now.

If anyone wants to make me a serious offer on these, please feel free. Or pop over and see me at Japshow this Sunday, or at JAPS (Thoresby) on 2nd July.

yep deffo different m8:)

and they LOOK like they will be not to bad to keep clean/polished

go for it Dave;)

Yeah, those pics were American. Not sure about standard though, but certainly quite a few have them.

I love those 18s mate, if only you were selling in a couple of months I would have them off you.

Put it this way bud, if i don't sell them yet, then they'll still be for sale in a couple of months :D

The money from selling these goes to funding having my OEM ones chromed!

i'm not a fan of the stock zed alloys but in chrome they are wicked go for it

The stock ones are aluminium I guess.

Surely this can be polished to a mirror finish? It's not quick but professional places can do it with a big mop or something. I've seen it done with motorbike frames.

Just a thought - chroming may be easier and better.

How much do you think it will cost to get them chromed. I have seen them on US sites and think they were an option as standard, look loveeeeelly

I've been quoted £95 + VAT per wheel, from a reputable refurbisher.

Well then Dave put me in for first dibs and I'll start saving now.

Cheers, Scrawn.

I have been thinking of doing mine as well. Who is the refurbisher?

Dave,

DO IT !!

They would look bloody fantastic !!

Much better than some of the tat out there that passes for "after market"

Really like that.

Alan......

omigod! I was thinking of getting alloys and tbh didn't want anything bigger than the stock 16's. The chrome oems look amazing! I'll definately be looking into that when I got some spare cash. Go for it!

Right, I've made a bit of a boo-boo here, and seem to have had my brain mashed in the sun.

When I got a quote a few months back (from LapTab) it was £95 per wheel for mirror polishing, not chromeing! So I'm very sorry f I gave anyone a heart attack thinking that I could get chromeing done cheap!! As I've been told to expect around £1400 for a set of alloys chromed! :D

Anyway, as mirror polishing is as good a finish as chrome, and the company I've been talking to today (not Lap-Tab) said they are in the process of testing an un-destructable coating to protect polishing alloys! This is what I beleive I'll be doing to my stock alloys then. :D

Keep us posted on this one Dave, please.

Will do Alan.

Going to phone this new company up tomorrow and see what their exact price would be, and some defo details on this coating. Especially as it looks like I could have sold my chrome ones three times over !! :D So I'd better get a move on.
