All,

Ignoring the overall diameter of new wheels for moment, is there any benefit to go wider on the front wheels? Standard as you know is 8" on the front, and I reckon I'll stick with that when ordering some new ones.

The rear is a slightly different matter, where I indend to go 9" (or maybe 9.5"), but appreciate that with wider tyres, wet weather driving is likely to get the back end out more!

Any thoughts on the above??

front arnt worth going any wider than 235 really (tyre size). As for the rears people are using lots of different sizes, im using 265 and they give a decent level of grip in the dry and wet without too much ill handling. Only thing to note really is the wider the rear wheels (in particular) the more of a tracking tendancy to the left you will have because of the camber of the road. HTH

Agree with the above - no wider than 235 tyres on the front otherwise it will tramline terribly.

There will be no real benefit to handling either so it's just not worth it. For 235 tyres you only need 8 inch wide rims. OK to go wider on the back though :)
