I've just bought a 106 1.5 diesel as my other daily runner got rear ended, its a nasty piece of work but it will get me to work and back. Anyway now seems like an ideal chance to try this cooking oil crap.

 

Anyone else on here running it in their daily drives? any probs?

never run it but iv'e heard good things. it's easier just to use the oil and not the bio diesel. you have a second tank in the boot, and when the oil reaches temperature you switch over to just oil.

ideal if your driving infront of some chavs,just rev the tits out of it :D

My mate ran a landy on almost completely veg oil. He had a small petrol tank to start the car on and then switched straight to oil. It ran absolutely fine for years. Another guy had an almost brand new vauxhaul something or other and he always put 50-50 diesel and veg oil and it ran perfect. No loss of power or anything. Just be aware of tax laws ,etc in case you get caught.The cheapest thing is to distill old chip shop oil, but it looks a bit suspicious when you've got big vats of smelly oil in your garden shed!

I've got a Shogun TD run's on 90% veg oil in the summer and 50 - 50 in the winter. You do get a heater unit for the fuel line for about £20 but I've never bothered. Motor TBH run's smoother and starts faster on the higher cooking oil mix. But it does smell like a burger van so make sure you have your paperwork with you cause you will get stopped. Red works even better as long as you know where your local check area's are. Find a bloke that works for the council. They run white in everything so will swap you clear for red to burn in there rollers and stuff.

you can use old oil i believe, so you might get it for free from your local chipy or resturant

I think he uses 50 : 50 at the moment.

 

Tesco Value three litre bottles of cooking oil are about £1.30 each. That's the best price on any cooking oil. Just tip it in.

 

With the pipe heaters you can run a much higher mix.

 

 

 

And of course anyone doing this must declare it and pay duty!!!!
