I got a toad car alarm fitted when I got the car (about 6 weeks ago). The guy who fitted it had a bit of trouble getting it linked to the central locking.

He came back again and couldn't sort it. I asked questions about it on here and I think I got the answer and he said he'd have to research too.

Anyways 6 weeks later and he hasn't come back. Whenever I ring him I go straight to voice mail. The only time I can get through is when I use a different phone to ring him. He says he'll come then just doesn't.

Read into this what you will I'm not going to suggest anything apart from that it seems as if he's not coming back.

SO..... How much does it generally cost to connect the alarm to the central locking?

Its very simple, and every alarm engineer should be able to do it.

Like most Japanese cars you need to install a Central locking selenoid motor for the alarm to work the central locking. This is basicall a servo motor that moves a rod on the central locking.

I cant understand why the enginner had trouble with this, unless the problem he was something completly different.

fook me the guys at safe n sound just did it all on mine in next to no time, no problems no excuses, try ringing them they are not that far from you and will come to you.

excellent service and higly reccomended by most of the members here!! it was on that basis i got them to do mine with the window closing addon and my audio install.

hi mate, i have a toad a1606, the extra locking solenoid thing cost me £40 ish on top of the alarm hth

I agree, and i would as any other good engineer fitted the cdl motor in the drivers door at time of install.

It should not have caused any problems for a competent engineer.

I payed 250 quid for the job (toad ai606). Woud that be too much if I only payed for the alarm (and not having it linked to central locking)?

Just wondering whether I should get it done elsewhere or keep badgering the guy to reseurface on the planet and finish off the job. I did pay him based on that he'd get it linked to the central locking.

you realise your alarm's thatcham rating means nothing if it isnt fitted properly by a qualified installer?

I asume it is fitted properly. The guy is a registered toad dealer and has a buisness local to me. I found him on bestplace on the net and he's on yell.com too.

He doesn't sound like one if he cant fit the door locks, which im pretty sure are an essential part of a cat1 rating.
