My zed has remote start and one of the circuits that works before ive put my key in the ignition is the drivers side electric window. I want to use this 12v live to trigger my carputer to start up so its ready by the time i get to the car.

Ive covered the electrics as far as starting the laptop, but i need to find where the source of the power to the drivers electric window starts (as in the 12v live).

Cheers all (as much detail as possible be good as im no auto electrician)

I'd say the fusebox in the drivers footwell. But i would say there are much easier things to take a feed from. Why not something like the cig lighter or radio?

thought what i thought, but the fag lighter and the radio dont work on my remote startr. It must be some random way its wired in but this would suit my need perfectly. Ive had a look through the manual thats online but finding it hard going to isolate the +12 live that would be on for the drivers side window. I guess i could trace it back from the switch in the door but that may prove harder work than it sounds

anyone?

test for lives in the fusebox when you use your autostart or take directly from main ignition live on barrel harness (which will prob be the cleanest feed)

thanks, was also just thinking i could probably piggy back off the remote start unit itself as this must have a live during the start sequence. Il be off to halfords this week to buy a live tester screwdriver then....

NO!!!!

Use a multimeter or a power probe, You can get either for round £20 and wont cause any possible damage to car

Yes agreed. multimeter is the way to go. My remote start switches the radio on with the engine - I wish it didn't!!!

Check your alarm system for any aux control leads (e.g. air conditioning or rear window demister as mine has) these will be cables that connect to earth when activated and all you need to do is find any live feed and then pass it through a relay to activate your comp.
