right i'm going to order, bearing, rods, pistons, oil pump and a gasket set along with a few other bits which arn't part of the bottom end.

This is only a bottom end rebuild for now, so not unless the cams, valves etc. have had it i will be leaving this as it is.

But what else do i need to do?

I've heard people say things like they have cleaned their water ways, replace core plugs, grounded the crank. What does all this mean and should i do it? also is there anything else which i have missed?

As far as i'm aware grounding the crank takes a layer off the top so does this mean i would need special bearings?

mains bearings?

if the BEB's have damaged the crank you will need to have the crank reground resulting in one size smaller on the bearings.

So you need to see the condition of the crank first as you may need smaller bearings to allow for the regrind.

the set of BB bearings were £41.

I'll will know the condition of the crank as from Thursday.

Is there a diagram anywhere so i can see how the engine works and what's inside it.

I believe they are main bearings, Toga they are. So if you ask if they are the main ones then there must be more in there, i guess i would need these too then?

there are BE bearings AND main bearings as far as im aware.

thats what it said on my invoice anyway.

Bottom end rebuild mate-i told you that on Wednsday night when you asked what ive done to mine lol.

My crank was okay though so didnt need a new one.

sorry, it's one of those days.

I've been battling it out today to keep the aircon unit, i'm not aloud my window open aswell, i can see their point. but then it's all stuffy and makes me feel sick.

Are you going up next Wednesday? depending on what time i get done i might go up but doubt it as it's going to be along day, we have to carry the enigine down a bumpy muddy drive between us, the van wont fit restricted by height and width plus it's a long fairly step slope.

What did the build consist of?

It will take me forever to run in, i don't do many miles in it. Could run it in down pod on the strip, i actually know someone who took their car down the strip while running in.
