Has anyone tried the resister mod off ebay? i bought a zed with an aftermarket air filter, i think it's a blitz, which is making it run lean and flat. I'm hoping that this cheap mod will bring back the stoicheometric fuel/air ratio.

You're kidding right?

I seriously hope no one has tried the resistor thing :wack:

Those mods won't make it run lean, that's what the AFM is for - to measure the air flow and squirt the required fuel in.

works well with the e bay electric supercharger :smash:

The "resistor mod" does indeed lean out the mixture - but it does so across the whole rev range when the ECU is in open loop mode. I would seriously not recommend these mods unless you know what detonation sounds like, so you can back off the throttle if you hear it at high rpms!

Get yourself a half-decent AFR gizmo like the HKS super AFR:

Alright Pete, yeah the AFM will squirt the reqiured amount of fuel in under normal circumstances, but the stock system has parameters. It will cope with after market air filters and sports exhausts but will not run at 14.7% air/fuel ratio by any means which means a loss in power. I was just wondering if anyone had tried this mod and tested it on a rolling road to see if it produces Lambda 1.

Is this for real?

There's loads of these things for sale on eBay. All a pretty bad idea unless you've got a well trained ear!

The HKS AFR (http://www.grahamgoode.com/hks/parts2.php#afr) is basically the same thing i.e it's just a variable resister to reduce the voltage on the MAF signal.

Spend the money on a properly mapped ECU Chip. Your only looking at £50-£100 from one of the Performance parts/services Traders here.

If it is currently running lean then its nothing to do with the Air filter.
