Also is there anything special I should look out for Ive read through the guide on this page and it was very informative.

does £520 sound about right for TP+FT insurace im 24 with 4 years no cliams bonus.

I know they are performance cars but just out of interest what sort of MPG do you guys get in every day driving ?

Thanks.

Just keep looking on the www.autotrader.co.uk

One will eventually come up for sale, you might have to travel to get one though. A manual uk spec (G or H reg) should go for £5000 if in good nick.

Mileage I get about 18-25 mpg.

Check the buying guide off the tech stuff link of this forum.

Thanks for the info Ive tried Autotrader there seam to be a few for sale but they are at least 50 miles away I was really after one for sale close so I could try it out And if I didnt like it I haddent lost to much time (I havent driven a 300 ZX yet)

PS I was looking for a G H reg TT for about 4 to 5K so maybe im asking to much.

PS how do the 300 ZX hadle Ive heard some bad reviews and some good ones It would be nice to hear from ppl how actually have one

sorry bad internet connection. the page just hanged, posted by mistake smile.gif

If you want to check out loads of 300ZXs get yourself up to the Easter meet near Birmingham (details in the Events section) where you can check out loads of fine examples and spot all the differences between J-Spec/UK, Series I, Series II etc. I'm sure you could persuade some people to take you out on test rides and many will be for sale so you could even be the proud owner of one by the end of the day.

I hear some people say it handles bad, and on the other hand I have read articles say it handles really good.

I think it is great, but simple things like tyres make a huge difference. And then if you can afford it, change the suspention. That will make it hold the road even better.

Your insurance sounds good, where did you get it?

Assumming there's nothing wrong with the car it should handle great. Every review of it I've read says it handles great. Jeremy Clarkson even said it was (one of?) the best front engine rear wheel drive chassis of all time. I have no problems with the handling of mine, although its not as nimble as a lighter car. Skid pan figures for the car are very impressive. The brakes could be better though

Handling, imho, is a subejective topic, a car can handle great yet not give good grip, handling is about feedback you get from the wheels, so you know what the car is doing and when its gonna do it. handling doesnt mean superior grip, better round corners etc.

A lot of people say the 3000gt has crap handling (in as far as driver involvement goes, which is what handling is surely), but im sure it doesnt have bad grip or cornering abilities, likewise a good suspension and tyre set up on the lowliest of cars will see it get round corners better, but it may feel like crap going round, it may not.

anyway, others will tell you how the car itself goes, how it gets round corners how much grip it has.

P.s. not trying to say the zx is crap or anything, just so you can say, yeah, handles great and has good grip etc, just so you can give the guy a fuller picture of the characteristics of the car...thats all!

My insurance was from CIS sorry I dont have the number handy ill find it for you if you cant.

PS Is any body going to the milton kynes meet I would love to see what you guys have done to your 300 ZX's

Plus the 300 is a scooby killer from 60mph onwards. A slightly modded 300 will demolish any M3 on the road!! I know I've done it.

Mike,

I think I guy called Nick was selling recently and he is on the Herts/Essex border - not too far. Think the car may have required work though.

Have you checked on the UK Z Owners club (or whatever they're called!) www.zclub.net they have quite a large For Sale section usually.

Hey Mike let me know how you get on OK, Ive got money waiting for a ZX but no one want to sell them frown.gif

Check out the for sale forum guys

I found one last week and phoned up on the friday only to find the bloke had sold it on thursday, was well gutteed

Nobrien: cheers, Im after a UK Manual though,

moogle33,

don't know if your interested but there is a car importer called 'AutoTerminal', here in Southampton, quite a long trek for you but they normally always have 300's in stock. Try this hyperlink if your interested..

http://www.autoterminal.co.uk/asp/usedcarlist2.asp?make=NISSAN&model=300ZX

If you want to know economy figures then the worst I've had is 14mpg ( driving round town like a looney and racing etc..)

Best I've had is 30mpg when I drove up to London & Back on the A3 (via Portsmouth).

Hope that helps,

Tony

Just my opinion but I went there a year ago and thought they were very pricey and fairly poor examples in general. All of their cars seemed to claim around 50000 miles and had very worn out interiors etc. They did have quite a few cars though, some really rough ones outside. Just my opinion of course :D

Thanks rock_star im checking it out now smile.gif
