!!! Its The Belt !!!

Well moving on again from the "CRANK SENSOR TEST" thread. I decided to strip the car back to view the timing belt. When I removed the covers I had good feel at the belt and found that it was stripped at the bottom pulley as V6Power and AndyP suggested. Although the belt is still there and tight it just seems to have sheared a light strip off. Take a look, RED CIRCLE shows the the belt itself, and the RED SQUARE shows the part thats stripped!!

It only looks worn out there because it was stripped. The belt looks almost new across the intake camshaft sprockets!

See if you can turn the cams, i think you may have a seized Cam, usually leads to the belt breaking or stripping on the crank.

Well at least you know what the problem was Sud :-(

Hi Marty! Yeah least I know the problem now, not a good problem though.........Which cam should I try and move?? Do you think there will be major engine damage now.

Well its an Interference engine, but if the belt went a low revs, the valves usually retract back enough not to do any damage, but at hig revs its major damage. Just check all the cams, a short turn to the left and right should be enough.
