PC help

I ve got a pc with the following specs

 

amd 4400+

xms 3500 2gb paired ram

asus a8n32 sli mobo

2 maxtor 250gb rate 0 disks

1 raptor 36gb for the operating

....

....

 

i'm running on win xp version 2002 SP2 (original cd)

 

my problem is that when i shut down the pc, it closes all the app, it locks off win but the machine does not shut down

 

anyone knows what settings must be modified?

    i have a p5nd2 mother board and after building it had the same prob,but i set up a duel boot for 64 bit and updated everything and it went,maybe the updating sorted it i dont no,i was going to fix after i was set up but it stopped doing it anyway.

    this one is when win get stucked. my problem is that the win log off, the screen goes black but the machine still on, wating for me to pust the power buttom in order to turn it down
