Hi guys

I know there is a lot of talk about whether to decat or not. However, I dont know if I want to risk de-catting mine incase the tubs go.

Is it really worth it for an extra 10 bhp and risk a £1500 payout for new tubs?

Why not just concentrate on good induction, and boost controller instead?

I am thinking about getting sports catalysts! Surely, they should give some exta BHP, shouldnt damage the tubs, and shouldnt cause MOT problems! Or is it just wishful thinking?

What is everyones opinions on Sports Catalysts?

Has anyone got them?

Any recommendations?

I would have thought that sports cats will have essentially the same problem as no cats. ie reduced back pressure which can (allegedly) lead to turbo seal failure.

This link compares standard cats with sports catalysts. A standard cat allows an open area of around 60%, where a sports cat allows an open area of around 80%.

So yes the back pressure will be increased but not as much as a decat would!

i've been thinking about getting Hi-flow cats as i can't get rid of mine for MOT purposes (96 model), has anyone tried these? and what are the rough costs involved?

Yeah, mine is 1995 model and am worried about the MOT. I think they are around £250 each but not sure!

If you find any suitable let me know. Perhaps we could do a group buy?
