Just wondered really ..

I have found a good company that does virtual private servers so I can add a lot of clients websites to one server and administrate them all using PLESK.

I don't have any experience in running a live webserver although I reasonably clued up using apache etc ...

Apparently you can use plesk to control all the domains, mail etc ..

Anyone used it? Any comments would be appreciated.

Cheers

I use plesk to manage my server, it's f***in brilliant. It runs quickly, is clear and easy to use (everything is laid out well and labelled clearly), havent noticed any bugs and it does everything you really need it to.

definitely recommend it!

do you host multiple domains on the server? just wondering.

i shoulda said domain, not server. sorry for confusion.

i use a hosting company with whom i have 2 domains, i use the plesk control panel to manage them but i don't own the server. very good software, don't know of any alternatives but can't see any reason why it wouldn't work for you...

Plesk is good, we use cpanel for our servers though, thats good also, hsphere is good for clustered enviroments,

cpanel is most widely used however.

Thanks for the replies guys. I decided to go with plesk using a dedicated server so I can host all my clients websites in one place with full control.

I must admit the plesk system is very good and I havent encountered any significant problems so far.

Hi mike,

it was actually one that was recommend on this thread by vigilante.

provider-one.net

The dedicated servers start off at £79.00 month which isn't too bad at all for a dedicated one. I went for the standard server.

All I have to do now is migrate all the other existing hosting accounts to this one when they come up for renewal :headvswal

Ah, I'll probably walk past your server a few times a month ;) I have a router situated with their colo provider temporarily.
