Sounds like my engine is going to cut out after ignition.

Sometimes when i first start my car it idles and then sounds like the engine is going to cut out and then it starts to rev up to about 2000rpm by itself and then it starts to drop the revs until it sounds like it's going to cut out and then it revs up again?? Any ideas?

    Potentially poor temp sensor connection, dirty throttle bodies, incorrectly set TPS as well ...

    A bit of carb cleaner can fix the idle air valve problem if it is caused by rubbish getting in it.

     

    The temp sensor connection is easy to clean up and the throttle bodies are easy to clean.

     

    TPS, not sure, never had to mess around with mine so far.

     

    I am sure someone with more techie knowledge will help you out more than I can.

    do a search for 'TPS' and you should find a thread with a link about checking and setting it.have you got datascan or Consult?f so it tells you what voltage its running on the dials display.
