Sorry to inform you all, but the forum has now been threatened with legal action due to the nature of post recently by certain members of this forum.

This is one of the reasons we have moderators, and why threads/posts are modded.

I realise that you cant please everybody, and we all have a view of how things should be done. Sorry, but the rules are clear.

We will now be running a zero tolerance on all post's, it is to protect the forum, not because we want to, but because we now have to.

You have all been warned.

The problem a lot of you guys dont get is that what you WRIGHT down and is visible to the world in general can cause offence. Some of you just dont bloody well get that. And as some people do in fact take legal action then the club has to protect itself.

Have a look on google and I am sure you will see more than a few casses of slander and libal cases being brought to online forums such as this.

There are some issues with comments about deals made with traders that should of been handled better by both parties. But as a member of this club I think it is unfair that I will not be allowed to post my feelings. Howver there should be a better code of practice on how to do it. 1post from each and a result post from the commitee is probably the best way of doing it. That way no one has a chance of chipping in and blowing things out of proportion which is always the case on here of late.

I've been almost put at complete dis-interest in this site as of late with all the politics. It's supposed to be an enthusiasts club, it feels far from it.

Unfortunately it happens EVERY year around this same time! (If you don't believe me, go check out the forums of years gone by)

I think it's the spring blues, people are getting anxious for the real decent weather to come along and, so tempers go off (no disrespect to anyone currently in dispute, I'm keeping my gob shut this time;) )

As for legal action, pathetic, grow up! Get a real life, if you've got a problem with someone, sort it, don't hide behind the law, that is so fooking childish!

WRIGHT .

:slap:

write..... PMSL

I think your all assuming the threat came from a trader or person involved in an argument too, that may not be the case ;)

this could just be a small minded person who has no interest for the club at all, that likes to feel big by jumping on a situation.

would have to agree with what bantambunny said

this forum has been a great help to me over the years i have beena member and the advice i have gotten has saved me money a few times i have also found people to be extremely helpful

lets get back to basics and remember why we joined, a shared interest, a love of zs

if people are not happy they do have the choice to leave

as for paying 15 pounds a year, i think its money well spent, its just the price of a couple of drinks,

i hope sense prevails in all of this, as i think the majority of members are happy enough with the forum

do you not think they should be named.

should we not clarify who it is, so we're not all pointing the finger.

if he's big enough to threaten us, lets see if he is big enough to do it here.....

i doubt it personally

do you not think they should be named.

should we not clarify who it is, so we're not all pointing the finger.

There are pro's and con's to that idea

It would stop all the speculation, however it might also inflame things, in that the person involved may get even more upperty and cause more problems, just when others might be able to carm the person down and get it all sorted in a better atmosphere. Don't get me wrong I can see were you are coming from because I was thinking about this last night.

Don't start you!!! :D

Bite me!!

I think a number of issues have surfaced at once and are getting clouded.

IMHO

The club has not turned to sh1t. A bit of a ding-dong like this happens every now and then here and on all forums. It's great that people feel passionate about 'their' club and want to protect it.

There is more than one issue that's sparked it off:

1) at least two people wanted to be traders and were declined.

2) There has been a disagreement between a club member and a trader.

3) Some memebers have expressed that they feel the club's trader's policy is unfair in some way.

There might be more issues as well - it's sometimes so hard to tell.

What's the answer? Hmmmm... I don't know.... other than make me and StellaZ the kings and everything we say goes and we solve disputes with 'thumb wars' at JAE.

Seriously though, can a club like ours be sued? Does it have any / much money? Does a particular individual 'carry the can' and is responsible if damages are awarded against it (and if so is the club a money making venture for that person?)

I do believe the moderators are all unpaid volunteers and do their best at what can be a tough, thankless job sometimes.

so as a non-registered member who just comes here to look at nice cars and talk about rubbish from time to time, am i safe? :)

sorry i'm just in a slappin mood! anyone else for a slap :D

have to agree with deve8uk (thats a first :p )

and craig david

and yes a forum can be sued, whether its a bogus claim or not

do you as members want the club funds being used to fight court cases

or paying lawyers to fire off letters denying all knowledge of A-B or C

or would you prefer the UNPAID admins/mods to keep a rein on it happening??

just seems lately a few who pay their subs (and some who don't  )

seem to think they can come on an open forum and post away happily without regard for anyone, and then accuse EVERYONE ELSE of being up THEIR own arses

just a couple of examples

All very well said bud ;) you get my vote for owt you want to do :D

Billy, those exmaples you posted did state that what the guy posted was "FALSE" I cannot see how anywhere in the world if someone prints/posts a true fact that anyone can be sued and have never heard of this happening.

If someone has threatend this club with action due to obviously somthing being posted, then the offending piece or article i would assume has now been removed and the Author advised accordingly, HOWEVER that said, in all cases of common sense we as a club should be advised on what it was so as to prevent further repercussions by anyone esle, albeit an innocent party.

smithy

I was going to go to JAE, but I think I'll pass.

This'll all blow over and we'll all laugh about it like the 'Great Clique Debarcle' of 2004.

You gotta come to JAE mate. It'll be ace.

I was going to go to JAE, but I think I'll pass.

I'd love to be there, but having vacuum hose issues, could someone give an opinion on that...I promise no legal action if It all goes wrong ;)

just my 2p's worth...

instead of posting in the open forums - why not use the Private Forums from now on that way the general public wont see posts which are crude etc.

hell i don't post here that much because of whats been going on recently but if you feel that someone may not like a post - move it to the closed forums.
