Does anyone know of somewhere good in the south east where you can take your car for a proper run? Preferably for free!

 

I found a disused airstrip on google earth that's just off the A3 near guildford but it has padlocked gates and I cant find out who owns it!!! very frustrating as it is about 2 miles of straight fairly decent tarmac.....perfect for test runs and general scallywag behaviour.

 

Any help would be appreciated as i'm fed up of going for a drive on the roads and getting stuck behind some 80 year old tossa in a morris minor or the proverbial tractor!

Mate, if you haven't got google earth then download it. It's a wicked tool as you can see satelite images of your local area and you might find somewhere near by that you never knew was there.

 

I've lived outside guildford for 24 years and I never knew that airstrip was there because you cant see it from any roads....just need to find out who owns it now and do some sweet talking!

Mate, i'll get researching as i'm near guilford as well! i know they film top gear around here so maybe we could sneak onto their test track!

Nice idea but they're going to build a housing estate on it apparently!! Check out the airstrip near ripley off the A3, it's perfect. If we can find out who owns it then we could have a track day up there.

Is it still there? I heard that it was going to be demolished to make room for a housing estate?!?

Yep. one of my mates customers is on site there and he occasionally can get onto the track and go for a burn(in his T6 volvo c80 hehe.)
