A guy I work with has bought a Focus ST and we live round the corner from each other.

This morning on the way to work and the fun began.

I just want to say - not only is the focus ST a nippy car, but he completely out handled me.

I would easily reel him in on the straights, but get to the twisty stuff and he was gone!

We even caught a Porsche 911 who tried to get involved but gave up.

Net result?

He beat me to work by a good 30 seconds.

At the end of the day, there is still not much on the road that can cause us problems in a straight line, but we still have 15yr old handling.

Now where was that anti roll bar group buy?

Disclaimer [ obviously this was all conducted on a private track that just happens to run from my house to work! and I don't advocate 'spirited driving' on public roads] :nono: :p

A guy in work just bought one. He turned round and said to me, "Now you wont catch me". I told him that unless the road has more twisties than straights then he has no chance.

But in all fairness, they are very nice cars. I will be getting a shot of it on Saturday, which I cant wait for. Just hope, it doesnt put me back into the "I want another car" chain of thought.

If there was any brand new reasonably cheap sensible car it would be the st, have to say in blue withthe black leather recaro interiors its gorgeous :D

Was that close to selling the zed and contract hiring one a while ago

What do you recomend?

tein flex coilovers, falken 451's or 452's and ditch the hicas then trust me it WILL out handle the focus

Thats not what I meant if thats how it read.

I meant I was having fun with an ST this morning and we came up behind a 911. It put it's foot down for a little bit, but with the st hot on its tail it moved aside and didn't want to play anymore.

ps. nice tone in your post, keep it up.

More than likely 15yr old worn shocks, springs and bushes, if they are original they will be WAY past there usefull life and your car (and most others on this forum) wont be handling anything like a zed should be.

New suspension (even stock) makes a whole world of difference.

Tyres also make the difference between a good handling car and poor handling car.

the 300 is not about twisties

But it is, if your not on old tired suspension and crap tyres ;)

Ture about the tyres my mate's 300 with toyo's is a lot better than mine. But my last car was a Lotus Elan SE sooo much grip never been in a car like it and i had an xr4x4 before that. So next to the Elan it's a bit of a tank to me. BUT a VERY good car mate's pulser cant corner as fast (and that's 4wd)

sorry for ill tone, wasnt intentional! just shocked that a 911 coulda been outdone by a ford lol :)

all cleared up now though!
