Let me say this before i say anything else

I love this site and everything it has to offer.

My concern is this......how do we KNOW we can trust the affiliated traders on this site.

There is a lot of protection for the traders from what I can see but no real world representation of the service they offer. There is reputation but no real world feedback for other forum members to see other than posts saying good things.

How many situations go on that a lot of us never hear about because of people not wanting to post it due to fear of forum legislation or trying to sort out themselves.

Many people would only as a last resort bring there problems here because of the type of place this is ( its a community ).

I ( and this is only my opinion ) believe that there should be a feedback area controlled by a moderator which would involve only the trader and his customer but would allow all members to make judgements after viewing.

This way if there is good service we see it and if there is bad servise we also see it and we see the supporting reasons for all actions.

As I said before I love this site but find it hard to make decisions because there are lots of different topics covering the same situations and every man and his dog tries to get involved I would like to see just the relevant information without all the crap that goes with it.

We do not get many problems with any of the traders on this forum.

Saying that, if you do, then 9 times out of 10, if you contact the trader directly the problem can normally be resolved between your selves.

If it's not resolved, then thats when you contact Mac1 or myself, and we get involved, this isnt a course of action we like to persue, but thats why all the traders on this board are sanctioned through the committee, and why we dont have a 'free for all'.

Could we not have a score system like E-bay or something similar LOL

I know that unhappy customers are going to happen but as long as people can see the Trader trying to sort it they can make up there own minds. Unfortunately there is nothing worse than feeling frustrated and useless when u have a problem. We all know that and should appreciate peoples problems however minor they are.

To be fair, its the old story, your never thanked, or remembered for the good things you do, but if you make one mistake.............

use the votes system!

aggreed , but i dont mean to throw spanner but dont we say thankyou when we have good work done on the forum anyway, i no i have , in traders section ,

Southwestzed , i dont agree with the ebay style voting as some people just cant help but give negative feedback .. i do however think there should be some point scoring system held with the TLO as to where a member can make his view and the TLO set an allocated time in which to settle any disputes .. if more than a certain ammount of disputes arnt settled the the trader be struck off .. this way nothing has to be done publicly .. so if a traders sticks to his agreement there is no bad publicity on his behalf .. i think this would help protect the member and trader to a certain extent .. i enjoy this forum as an active Member and Trader and would like to see the club doing well .. lets hope the convoy helps put back a bit of spirit into the club .. we all own great cars ... TT or N/A .. lets have a great club too!!

I just want to see the relevent information from only the parties involved in a feedback system rather than the bandwagon that currently exists

everything is one sided, its fine for members to post how great a trader is etc etc but there's no way you can post a bad thing about them. if you do, threads disappear, are edited, and locked.

on other forums i have seen arguments between members and traders where they just have it out, no moderation, each side says what they have to say and the other members are left to make up their own minds.

i do agree about the above , but i have had many a sleeples night about posting my complaint on here , as i knew whatmight happen and what could ,

i too want nothing but the best for this club , and i have gone out of my way to help fellow members , with parts etc and helpfull hints ,i love this club and whish to remain a life member ," groans from some lol " but really want to see the club shine in the world record attempt , and big thanks to john for sorting it ! great bloke good man !

words of truth.....these are a personal view, and as most of you know i am also a moderator of this club.....when i buy something of a fellow member or trader and im happy with it and there service ,i want to post up a thankyou and say what i think about there service,i do this because i believe in other members should have the benefit of my dealings with certain traders and members,,,now most of you know by now im a bit fussy about my zed and like to think its one of the nicest examples out there,,it is this way because i use the best people and products around, and like to promote there company name on my signature ,,i also have made a lot of friends in this club and tried to be fair on my moderations,,,but i do believe that if someone has done you a bad turn or your not happy with something then you have the right to voice your oppinion in a manner to that person involved, but if you have no luck with sorting this out then you should contact a member of this club and see what they can do to sort the matter in hand,,,so lets all wait and see what happens in this situation between a club member and a club trader and hope it can be resolved with the help of the clubs commitee, and who ever is to blame should be man enough to stand up and admit he/they made a mistake and put the matter to rest,

thankyou jason

Well ive used most of the traders on this site and ones no longer with us. Overall they have all been very good, 2 i would never use again though. 1. Has the worst aftersales service i have ever known and still hasnt finished a job on my car from 18 months ago i think. and the other i just dont like. Apart from that ive had great service from all the other traders.

and you know what ...it would be great to know the ones who give crap aftersales service.

It would be good to know what you might be getting into

It may have only been me though getting crap service from this company, though reading some of the other posts on them i guess not lol

Thanks Paul .. i think youre a top bloke too .. what is this a mutual appreciation sociecty   i would also like to thank everyone who has emailed me with some great enthusiasm and support for the convoy, keep it up guys

I also agree that things should be more open with regard to un-satisfied customers. I've noticed and spoke to many other members about the big-brother feeling on here with regard to traders and their service/after service. I've had very good service off traders on here (and make it known to others) and I've had quite poor service (and havn't felt able to make it known). The word gets around the members anyhow. My missus dad is a very experienced mechanic but he still has things that go wrong so I guess its nature of the job. I don't think Ryan (or anyone else) should be judged here without being able to answer back?

People only need to do a search of the old posts before the forum was properly moderated to see how bad it gets with mud slinging, and the good traders (IMO) that are not here now such as Jeff at Zedworld,Petrol Heads North West, and Zcenter. I think its in the interests of members to have an open floor re traders, but maybe its in the interest of the club to have a strong control over it?? IMO the most well managed forums in the jap scene are the skyline ones and nothing is tolerated on there that makes the club look bad.

to be honest,. if your a member an dyou step out of line, you get banned, if your a trader and you do let someone down, then not much can be done.

however, it's my beliefe that of a problem is reported to the traders liason officer, and he agrees witht he complaint, it should go on record, after 2 agreed complaints, the trader should have his rights to trade on this site removed.

this means that problems will need to be reported correctly, and investigated, if the tader is at fault, and refuses to correct it, then they simply dont deserve to trade full stop.

we should protect members and traders alike.

there WILL be times we think a trader is at fault, and in reality he's not, then other times where indeed he is, if thats the case, then we dont allow them here like we dont allow members who let us down

only my opinion, and this has NO reflection on complaints posted today, as i do not know enough details to make a choice.

sorry for spelling, pissed

we could use like e-bay feedback of how pleased we are with the work and say what work was done. this way if we look at all the traders feedback we could see who was good at say engine rebuilds but not that good at gearbox's so then we could look for a trader who is good at gearbox's. this way we will use the best trader for the job in hand. IMO

p.s i have been pleased with ALL traders on this site so this isnt a dig at any just my 2p worth

i don't normally say much ,and i'm certainly not taking sides in any arguments, but.....

when i joined the forum i thought wow traders recomended by people who know what theyre talking about, they must be excellent (maybe i was being a bit naieve) but i rely on the "good job" posts and am woried that their apear to be a lot of people who want to post "bad job" but havn't for whatever reason

anyway i changed from the garage i had been using for years (because i had started to suspect they werent doing a very good job) to one of the traders purely on the recomendations of forum members and the fact that (in my mind) the commitee must think he is a good trader. i think he did a good job, but to be honest , i'm not a mechanic so i have to trust he did a good job, for all i know he may have done a bad job or not have done a thing .

but the point of my post is; i have dealt with quite a lot of the traders (and a few members) on here and I don't want to complain about any of them, there is nothing to make me phone any of them and say i'm not happy - i'm fairly sure i got everything i paid for; I just have a general feeling of disapointment that generally they didn't provide the wow i origonally expected (especially the ones who said they would phone back and didn't) and to be honest there are now a few who i would not recomend if i was asked directly

i was starting to feel what seems to be the general feeling that all the traders are mates of the comittee and that you are not alowed to post negative feedback. I also had no idea that if i did have a problem that there was anyone to help, so i'd like to thank Shunter for a) posting the quote below and b) for offering to sort out other peoples problems.
