Hi guys,

I have just had a Clifford 650 fitted. Wow, has it caused some problems!

Its not the alarm, but the fitter. Granted, he has worked very hard but I think this was his first Clifford install.

He is an approved Clifford fitter but has just taken over from the previous shop.

Firstly, I took the car to the shop at 9am sharp. He was on time and I left the car in his capable hands.

I came to collect the car after work, which was about 5:30pm. To my surprise he wasnt finished. In fact, far from finished! He said to come back in an hour. So I spent about an hour in Halfrauds to help the time go by.

Anyway, I went to collect the car, again he was far from finished. By now, it was about 6:30pm. I ended up waiting until 8:30pm before he gave up. He said to bring the car back the next day.

The alarm was all fitted and all the doors, boot and engine compartment are all wired up to the alarm. However, he was having problems with the immobiliser, the starter motor was still working. We think its because the starter motor is getting power from my blitz turbo timer. Any ideas?

Also, my central locking is now not working. It only works by the Clifford remote, not by the key or inner door switch. He said he had to bypass it.

He said, when the alarm has been configured properly, the doors will automatically lock when I start the car and automatically unlock when I turn off the car.

Anyway, has anyone else had a Clifford fitted? How does yours work related to mine?

My main questions are:

1) Does the Clifford's immobiliser work with your existing Turbo Timer? (i.e is the starter motor working or dead?)

2) Does the central locking work by your key and inner door switch?

3) Does anyone have a circuit diagram of the Clifford 650? (or know where I can get one?)

Thanks

Colin

1) Does the Clifford's immobiliser work with your existing Turbo Timer? (i.e is the starter motor working or dead?) Don't have turbo timer so don't know.

2) Does the central locking work by your key and inner door switch? Yes

3) Does anyone have a circuit diagram of the Clifford 650? (or know where I can get one?) No, but may have instructions somewhere.

a lot of people don't like cliffords

BUT i would say your fighting a losing battle with a fitter who doesn't have a clue, any alarm is only good/bad if its been fitted properly

i wouldn't dream of trying to give you advice as god knows what he has done

heres the info that MAY help you

1) Does the Clifford's immobiliser work with your existing Turbo Timer? (i.e is the starter motor working or dead?) (YES IF FITTED PROPERLY)

3) Does anyone have a circuit diagram of the Clifford 650? (or know where I can get one?) (SEE ABOVE)

You have one MAJOR problem, your fitter hasn`t got a clue, if you haven`t paid him tell him to take it off and get someone who knows what they are doing. The Concept 650 is probably the easiest Clifford to fit and should take no more than 3 hrs start to finish. If he carries on guessing at what he`s doing you are in for problems for here on.

Unfortunately I have already paid. I do now have the Directed certificate, which is the main thing.

Thanks to 'Billynomates' for the circuit diagram, my brother and I should now be able to check everything as my brother is a electronics guru.

Why have you paid when the job isn`t finished, most of the wires are black so a wiring diagram won`t help that much. I can see you having alot of problems with this as Clifford reliability is down to the fitting.

I had a 650 fitted a few months ago mate ,i had a turbo timer fitted to the car and the guy said best not to use the existing one as the 650 has a built in turbo timer, but it may have just been easier for him to wip the ttimer off.

question 2 the answere is yes.The guy who fitted mine said he had fitted quite a few to zeds and was quite easy hardest thing is just setting up the door motor for the remote locking .

Hi mate,

With Cliffords Turbo timer, is it correct that the car stays on for 3 minutes EVERYTIME you turn off? Do you have any user control?

nope when u turn the car off it turns off ,if you want to activate the turbo timer you press (i think as i havent driven it for months)the ** button before you turn the car off ,the rev guage will then drop and you pull the key out then get out the car and activate the alarm which auto locks the doors ,the car will run for 2 mins before turning off

I have a Clifford concept 300 and a Greddy timer, (Had the Razo and it done the same).

When I kill ignition and pull key out of car, I leave car, lock the doors - engine stays running for x mins, then it unlocks the doors for me! :(

hi mate,

think you'll find that the turbo timer option is user definable (by the installer or with clifffnet pro.)

mine is set to one minute and is wired into the boot release button on the remote.

Mines a concept 600

Hi Colin, there is no major probs in fitting a 650 to the Z.

The turbo timer should be no problem and work happily alongside the 650 (the starter wire isnt used by a turbo timer because the engine is already running!) . The starter wire on the Z is a thin wire as it goes to a relay.

You have to fit an actuator into the drivers door on a Z to work the CDL so the alarm pulls actuator down this working CDL switch in door which locks or opens other door.

If you pm me your email address i w0ill send you the install guide for the 650

Hi mate

This is great. I have PM'd you :D

Do you have a circuit diagram of how to wire this actuator into the CDL? Or some sort of instructions?

The alarm fiiter said he is no longer going into Nissan's relay in the CDL, instead he fitted his own. Why I dont know. This is why the door switch and key no longer works the CDL.

Im taking the car back to him to finish the job on Tuesday and it'll be good to hand him some easy to follow instructions to follow

He's spent 12 hours on it now and he's gonna have it all day Tuesday, so that will be about 20 hours. That must be a record :x:

Im surprised that any alarm fitter, issueing a Thatchem approved certificate, would leave a turbo timer operational as well, we were never allowed to when we fitted them, as it would allow the engine to run while no one was present! And yes, I know the engine should shut down should anyone try to move the car with no key in the ignition, and the steering lock would come on, before anyone mentions it!

You dont need to link into the nissans cdl relay at all because the nissan does NOT have a cdl motor in the drivers door (because normally you lock drivers door with key which activates a switch triggering the cdl relay which then opens/locks other door.

You have to fit a motor into the drivers door (easy job) which is clamped to the cars lock/unlock system that is moved by the key. The alarm then operates this motor which in turn works the cdl

Thanks for this Paul and thanks for the manual.

I let you know how I get on!

No problem Colin, i have also emailed you a full vehicle specific data sheet for the Z which lists ALL the connection points needrd to install an alarm or immobiliser.

Many thanks

I have stripped the car completely today and inspected his wiring. He has done an OK job. As I was at it, I have fitted 4 new speakers and a new head unit. :D

(Has taken me 20 hours this weekend to strip the car and put back, fitting new head unit etc)

I have checked the CDL and there is a connector with 4 wires. Two of which are blue. All these wires WERE going to the doors motor. The two blue wires have been snipped and are now being fed to a new motor which has been installed.

I disconnected the two blue wires and connected them back to how they were. However, the CDL still doesnt work. So something has gone wrong with the original motor or something. I have checked all the fuses and all is OK.

I put the two blue wires back to the new motor. The CDL works fine via the Clifford remote but not by the key or the door switch.

Hi col, basically what the engineer has done is hijack the cars original wiring harness to feed the extra motor rather than running extra wires into the door (the longer but correct way to do it. you will prob find that the wires have also been cut in the drivers kick trim aswel and joined to the Clifford alarm.
