I have had Toyo Proxes T1-S's all round on standard rims and they lasted just over 20k miles (!) I don't drive like a granny and have been very pleased with the tyres' performance. I've recently replaced all tyres (following an alignment problem) with Toyo Proxes T1-R's which, so far, have performed brilliantly in both dry and wet conditions.

Have a look at http://www.mytyres.co.uk or phone Rochford Tyres on 01702 545689 (option 1, speak to Mike). Both have good prices and lots of choice in the standard sizes (ie Front: 225/50ZR16, Rear: 245/45ZR16). In the end I got my tyres from Rochford Tyres via mail order. Very good service and competitive pricing.

Good luck.

Dan

I got a pair of Falken 451 245\45\16 ZR-Y for £150 for the pair fromhttp://falkentyres.co.uk

Fitting and balancing i pay extra, which will be £5 per tyre.

I read good things about the 451's. Other good tyres are Toyo Proxes and Goodyear Eagles. What attracted me to the 451's is that they are suppoed to have better traction in the wet, they have two grooves running all around the tyre which i suppose would reduce aquaplaning effects.

Like other zeders my car has front juddering. I think now mine is because my tyres are warped as i i had such bad negative camber on the front, on the inside of the tyre it had worn down to the steel mesh thingy and on the other side the tyre look almost new - not good! I fitted some adjustable front upper suspension links that allowed me to set neutral camber (with a spirit level!)

I just bought new 2 new rear Pirelli P6000 tyres for my zed, had all wheels balanced and had my tracking done. cost was £230 which I felt was really good. But now my car wanders to the left. The Mechanic said that was due to negative camber. Does that sound right? can I get rid of it with a kit?

Erm well camber is an angle across the vertical. And there is toe that is an angle across the horizontal. I suppose toe would affect drifting to one side or another more than camber. Ive read on the forums that 1-2% negative camber is a good thing.

Has anyone else got a more definitive answer?

What sidewall do i need if i want 255 or 265. Can you get 255 or 265 in 16"?? what i want are some Michelin Pilot Sport Cup but can't find them in England. and there $217 each in the USA

If you are running on standard spec rims then there are only two variations you can do due to the width of the rims:

If you've got J-spec rims (ie 4 of the same width all round):

Front & Rear: 225/50R16 (all rims are 7.5J)

If you've got UK-spec rims (ie 2 rear rims are wider than 2 front rims):

Front: 225/50R16 (rims are 7.5J)

Rear: 245/45R16 (rims are 8.5J)

I wouldn't go and put wider tyres on standard rims - not a good idea.

Try here http://www.mytyres.co.uk/start.html

At least you can find some sort of price and sizes.

They do reviews of tyres as well.

what about 225s on 16" 8.5J standard rims?

what about 225s on 16" 8.5J standard rims?

The tyres would be too narrow for the rim - so I wouldn't recommend it.

I've got 265 rears and 255 fronts. Had a rear inner wall collapse 2mths ago.Shopped around online ( a bit the same as insurance ) and played one off against the other. £140 fitted and balanced.

255's on the front? car must be difficult to steer with that width on surely? Ive got 265 on the back but 235 on the front. Falken 451s are great though!
