I think my Zed is running a bit rich at top end.

When I give it some stick it sometimes makes an extremely loud BANG as I change up a gear. I presume that this is the excess fuel burning off as it comes out of the exhausts.

 

Apart from fuel consumption is this bad in anyway?

 

Also, I haven't seen this happening yet only heard it. Would it look anything like this photo of Chunk's flames? (stolen from Z Club) :bow:

i get the odd pop or thump from the exhausts when ive caned it and put the clutch in. not seen what it looks like tho. one of my O2 sensors is lazy and so i think mine may be running rich too

Running rich will not only hurt fuel consumption,. but performance too.

 

Very Excessive Richness could was the bores of oil, increasing engine wear.

i get a loud pop now and then when changing gear at high revs only at high revs with foot down so not worried at all

Popping and banging exhausts are a feature of stainless systems, especially when they are hot.

Keep an eye in the mirrors on dark country lanes at night and you might see the flash from the back.

I know after speaking to John Dixon that all Zeds on stock maps run rich at top end (I think this is to reduce the chance of detonation)

I intend to get this sorted with a remap at some point.

 

Just out of interest, how is Chunk getting those huge flames out of his exhaust? is it a flamer kit?

i think he must have dual propane tanks linked up to the exhaust. it also seems to double as an emergency bbq lol
