I know this isn't intrinsically Zed related as it's to do with the alarm but...

I went to lock my Zed with the cobra remote today and it made a really high pitched beeeeeeeeeeeep! which wouldn't stop. When I opened it again it made two shorter high pitched beeps then stopped. I closed it again and.... beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

I left it to beep away and after about 30 seconds it stopped. I went indoors and then 2 minutes later the alarm went all guns blazing, which the neighbours must have loved as we've only just moved here!

Anyway - anyone know about cobra alarms on Zeds and why this might be happening? I've got a little stick thingy on the keyring that I think can be used to reset the alarm but I've looked in the footwells and under the bonnet and I can't find where it might go.

I've locked it manually for now but any help on this one would be great.

Cheers

Ring Cobra.. Helpful people.

My car had no instructions etc when I got it.

They sent me a booklet out and also names of local agents.

I had mine all checked out , full demo and a second key fob from the local agent. £40 all in IIRC.

Unfortunately I can't help on the technical side of the alarm, but can categorically say the in my opinion Cobra alarms are shite. I have a top of the range one which cost nearly £500 and fitted in a well known instituition. However it is the worst/crapiest investment I ever made. Goes wrong all the fooking time. I even know friends and family who .share similar views to me as they have experienced/experiencing kak problems with their Cobras. Soon as I am able to financially replace it, I will be taking it out and running it over with my Zed. Don't waste your money bud. Get rid of it and use a chain and heavy padlock IMHO.

The high pitched sound you've been hearing is an indication that a door, boot or bonnet is left open at the time of arming the system. After a short while it will then sound the alarm. It could just be a door sensor which isn't engaging so investigate that first. In my experience, the sensor they use under the bonnet is prone to bending and may at some point stop making contact fully resulting in the alarm going off.

The "stick" thing you refer to is the manual immobiliser override. There should be a small button shaped point in the car (perhaps under the driver side dash under the steering wheel). You should have been given the "unlocking" code when the alarm was installed. I won't go into the details of how to unlock the immobiliser on an open forum but if you need me to explain send me a PM or e-mail and I'll do my best to help.

Best thing to do right now is to (a) check for either open doors or faulty door sensors and (b) contact your local alarm fitter or Cobra and get a manual.

Hope this has helped.

Dan

That all helps a lot, I'm off to bed now but will check it out tomorrow and may PM some of you helpful people!

I fully agree with above statement ;)
