May 23, 200619 yr hey guys just did a ecu self check on my brothers TT and we got code 11 and it does not start at all. any ideas what to do before replacing the CAS unit  cheers ed
May 24, 200619 yr The first thing to do before replacing the CAS unit would to be check all the connectors on the loom from the PTU to it. Mine were corroded and would not start either. Give them a clean anyway, and then try starting it.
May 24, 200619 yr Another check to test the CAS unit would be to mark its position (tippex or scibe a line), remove it. Turn on the ignition and rotate the shaft on the CAS unit in the rotation of the engine (important). you should hear the fuel pump run, and the injectors click as they cycle through their sequence. If you don't, then the CAS unit is faulty. Be very careful replacing the unit to ensure the slot in the CAS shaft aligns with camshaft drive key.
May 25, 200619 yr hi thanks well we tried a different cas unit and when turned while off the car the injectors fire off and i think he said it sparked off as well. still wont start though. all the connections were off about a year or so ago and cleaned when it had H/G replaced. still got a code 11 btw :(
May 26, 200619 yr Can you hear the fuel pump running ?. There is a fuse in the rear of the engine compartment left hand corner. check to see if blown, and connection not corroded. Check for fuel output from the filter (right hand corner), remove pipe, and turn engine on the key. Fuel filters sometimes collapse with age and block flow.
May 26, 200619 yr i said to my brother have you checked its even turning over the engine..............its dropped a cambelt tensioner by the look of it as the cambelt doesnt go round anymore. bent valves most likely then :headvswal
