If you increase your boost by say 1psi, what sort of increase in power are you likely to see?

would it raise the bhp by much? and would you feel a NOTICEABLE difference in the car?

from 14 to 15psi

Featured Replies

anyone please?

i would imagine there's no direct correlation between the two (eg. 10bhp per psi), probably more a logarithmic scale where the difference between 20 and 21psi gives more power than 1 and 2psi.

an N/A is about 220bhp, and TT about 280bhp, so 9psi gives you 60bhp (yes yes i know theres all the other differences like cams etc.)

mine's running about 380bhp at 15psi (again, with a load of mods)

to answer your second question - i think you'd be able to feel the difference between 2 psi - i remember feeling a GREAT difference when i put my jets in and went from 9 to 14psi. wahey!

it don't work like that. As skylinedave said NA=220bhp tt=280bhp BUT it's low comp 1st so a tt with out turbo's would be 180-200bho

so 1psi increase, will not really be noticed then ?

those figures where good when the cars left the factory, 15 year old or more engines aint gonna produce that power (factors below).

unfortunately on some cars upping an extra 5psi wont make a difference, its down to too many factors, Electrics, ignition etc etc ,engine condition, turbo condition, fueling, Ic effiecency etc etc

The only way to get an accurate power output is on a rolling road, to many people mod there car, then add up claimed gains on each mod and produce a magical figure.

With a boost controller and stock everything else how much extra boost can you use before the possibility of damage is erm much more. And say i indulge this boost twice a week. Sounds vague sorry but im curious how much extra hp on a jap TT import i can get out of my engine.

you need to change the fueling also bud to support raised boost 14psi is good I think a few on here run more
