Just found out a friend of mine has got involved with some people who sound as dodgy as they come!!

Firstly he has his own taxi company with 2 taxis which him and his brother run, anyway a guy which i think is a gypsy has be friended them and now says he wants to invest in his company, buy them some new cars and premisis and also wants them to setup an offshore account to import cars from andora???

So apart from the obvious possible money laundering issues and possibly drug movements what possible scams is he getting into with bringing cars in??

Any advice welcome

Mike

the cars may be wringers that he wants to bring into this country under a companys name (non tracable to him)

he may be genuine, i know a few gypo's and they are quite good a business venture's although can be a little dodgy

Well there is the issue of phishing on the acount they setup, then one day you find a fooking great big loan taken out, and said friend disapears with all money, cars from andora etc. Then sudenly people who are owed teh money turn up wanting it.

if this guy hs the funds, why doesnt he set up on his own?

he;'s going to use your mate as a front for something.

I would run a mile from them dude...

Stolen cars, smuggling, Tax evasion and all the above sounds very doggy to me. Why cann't he set up his own company, has he had companies in the past and been declared bunkrupt?

:mac1: avoid like you would a dose of the clap your mate and his bro will end him in the brown stuff this traveller will probably want to be a silent partner

probably a drug dealer with loads of spare cash, but because of new terrorist laws he wont be able to open his own bussines unless he can tell them where the money comes from

but if he is investing into a business and no one says anything he can launder the cash through that

he would probably make it a profitable busines (to benefit himself aswell) it would just be on the dodgy side

I would go with the smuggling line...he wont be the owner of the bussiness and there will be no traceability to this mystery investor

Best advice is.....better safe than sorry.

I wouldn't touch it Mike. Get your friend to come up with a plausible excuse and bow out. Almost certainly drug money and/or stolen vehicles :(

Bleugh doing business by word of mouth as a contract has always the potential to scew up no matter whatever soft words the other person comes out with.

Gypsy's are roaming around my workplace on the weekend and nicking stuff. I am forever looking at the security camera footage.
