Yes, although i have had so many problems with the car it had never actually left me broken down until tonight, by the looks of things its fuel related, or so the AA guy seems to think.

He checked the fuse box and only got a rading of 5amps

He seems to think ill need a new fuel pump.

Anyone know how much these are?

Bird , I`ve seen so many of your posts about that car , and I take me hat off to you and the sense of humour you`ve shown re all the p*sstakes you`ve had on here , but it breaks my heart to see you`re still having problems with it . Although I left Durham 26 years ago , I actually went to St Aidan`s in Sunderland when it was a Grammar school ; had some good mates from thereabouts , so I always like your crack , like ! :D

So , even though I support Newcastle :nana2: , I hope one day you`ll get to enjoy driving the Zed , as opposed to it driving you mad , marrer .

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Good Luck

Brian

bird, before you change the fuel pump check fuel pump relay fuse in engine bay & green relay in drivers footwell then check fuel pump ecu which is located in passenger side rear interior panel, also worth checking is cas unit opposite ptu

I feel sorry for you mate, is your name Aaron by any chance? He was the last person I knew to have so much bad luck with a Z...then there was me! LOL :D

check the cas plug hasnt jumped off or worked loose, this will cause the car to cut out

When you switch the ignition on does the fuel pump prime?...?

Do you hear a buzzing/whirring from the rear?

i have checked the cas and it seems to be ok, however i will check again tomorrow,

The AA guy checked a few things such as the fuse box and ran an amp test which came back at only 5 so he seemed to think that was stupidly low, (can anyone confirm this) and that it seems the car just isn't getting the fuel.

I am off work tomorrow so i can try a couple of things if any of you have any ideas as to what else it could possibly be.

If it helps after i left the car standing for a while and then tried it the car fired up for a few seconds before doing the same thing again :headvswal

Thanks for the comments fellas,

as far as the p*$$ takes go i think that they keep me smiling to be honest.

I do try to keep smiling whenever i can about the car.

I think it might be just the fact that ive always wanted one since i was young, just still wanting to unleast the power in one now, as even though the car has had so much done to it i still have slight problems such as the engine wont idle so when its cold it starts then cuts out until it warms up a little, so i lumpy ride at first, then during this time it also sounds like a toy car, or what sounds a little bit like a whistle noise.

And finally the car still doesn't seem to pull quite like it should, maybe if it wasn't getting the fuel it needed then that might explain that one.

Car has been de-cat, has an air filter etc so i would expect to be running low 5secs to 60 where as its more like 6.4 or there abouts. Even cadpaul thought it seemed slightly slower than he thought.

And then finally there the dam oil leak which means i need to drop the engine out again

If anyone has any suggestions for any of these problems please speak up as i'd love to fix them :D

Jesus mate, you're being tortured arn't you? Probably be cheaper to buy a new one and mix and match the bits the way you're going. Sometimes you just have to admit a loss and get on with it. I bought my old one for 4k and spent a couple of k on rebuiding the engine, and a k on a re-con gearbox, and had many problems like you. I always had it in pieces, and 3mths after the re-build the engine went again. I learn't so much about engines, but eventually had to admit it was fooked again and sold it ebay for a k and a half or thereabouts. I got my current one which has never been in bits (apart from MAF in pouring rain). Its worth it in the end mate, but the overdraft will never look good!!

all i can say is do you have protected no claims, if so torch the fooker

(this is meant in jest lol)

This reminds me of an Alfa I once had, now don't cry m8.

I was on the "private Track" doing about 120 when the car wouldnt accelerate so pulled into "pit's" and turned car off then it wouldnt start, AA called and Fuel pump was the cause, so i was told untill I got it to a garage.... Guess what one of the timing belts had come off and the car was running on half a engine, affter re-build the car was never the same.

The over draft is bad anyway mate, very bad in fact.

lol, i had a fiesta like your zed, everyone says how reliable theirs is but that doesn't help the fact you've spent thousands repairing the engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension, etc etc etc :(

I feel for you bud, flipping car. Makes me worry nervous about going to look at this twin turbo today lol
