Ok guyz ,whats your opinion.

I have been very happy with my Black Zx .I`ve had her for two years now stage one tuned and now i need to sell her .The prices seemed to have dropped on these great cars , why?

Is it because there are to many?

Insurance`s to high.

Please some one shed some light on this, :headvswal .What is the average price now?

Featured Replies

I still say prices are the same as they were a year ago, its just that the Rough ones are fetching lower prices.

I would still expect to pay £4k-£5k for a Tidy TT Manual, more for one with all the right upgrades.

They are so cheap cos people dont know they cost so much to run and keep on the road. They cant afford them so sell them dirt cheap just to get rid. Then the next owner does the same untill its worth feck all.

Thanks guyz for your replys,Yes i think you are right on both accounts.

Its one thing to buy a car , but it comes a s a bit of a shock when you have to run it, fuel it , maintain it as well .

The fact that they are as fast if not faster than most modern sports cars i think the cost is reasonable. The suspension is as good as any, by todays standards and if its looked after ,reliable as well.

An italian sports car would cost a damn sight more.Come to think of it lotus and jaguar are not cheap.

:headvswal

But i suppose the ZX is up against more fast JAP stuff so i don`t know.....?

Basically, these cars are imported at a rate of about 20 a month now with the majority being early model cars (ie 89-92). Not all of them are in a1 condition and get bought by people who, how can I put this diplomatically, don't have the finances (or sense) to run, maintain and drive these cars sensibly. After a short time of ragging the t*ts of the cars, they require a significant investment to put right again and that's when limited budgets/funds really come into their own. No money = sell on at a rediculously low price. These days, if you look at what's available in the market I am confident that 99% is a shed.

It's a real shame this is happening because if the car is maintained properly and driven sensibly then there is no reason why they can't still fetch £4k-£5k for clean examples, even for early cars.

added to that the tt manual supras can now be had for a smidge over 6k....a better quicker and far more reliable motor not to everyones taste but still a lot of car that isnt going to rob you blind at every opportunity

I didn`t know so many were being imported...ignorance on my part.

Well i suppose that puts a different light on it.And even if the standards of these ZX `s are low , people will still take a chance,Human nature .

Ok then perhaps you guyz can put a fair price on my car , yes.

(At this time i apoligise if this is wrong place etc,but i value other club members advice .)

She`s Metalic Black 300ZX Auto,91, Leather, with std alloys, Hks :- s/s single exhaust heat wrapped with removable baffles,Induction kit, T/timer,std Ecu but has delimiter fitted ,so not restricted. And of course serviced ,engine and gearbox are running fine ,optimaxed fuel....oh and std exhaust and another set of split-rims ,tyres not legal...so what do you think ?

My initial thoughts were around £2800 , is this to high?

Your opinions would be appreciated.... :hyper:

I have been trying to sell mine.. and only had 3 enquirys.

One came to view.. couldnt find a single thing wrong with it apart from the colour blue... so decided not to buy.... bstrd knew it was blue too.. and i know theres nothing wrong with it.. bstrd. grrrr.

anyway... its a nightmere... could get more for scrap than selling as a car. its freaken stupid...

yep agree with you there im having same trouble only reason mine is o cheap is it does have a fualt , it needs a turbo seal that is why its up for 3k , but never mind ive spent 5k on her this year putting all the wrongs right ,the problem is that peolpe belive you have ragged it to death , when you havent ,circumstances change and you can no longer afford to keep pouring money down the super car drain anymore, so you do drop the price , because there are so many bad ones out there to compete with , and thats why most of us are goig to end up breaking them to get what we want for them its blooming sad i say!!

It's horrible for people who want to sell but its great for experienced people who want to keep. My mate spent 10k + on a vauxhall astra last year. He's paying finance for however many years on an average salloon that will depreciate by thousands in the first year. I paid 5k, got a near supercar, spent a couple of grand on upgrades (brake setup , etc) and maintainance ( tyres etc ) and could still replace the engine if it went bang and pay less than him! I don't think people should be buying them without having a couple of grand available to replace the engine and/or the turbos, gearbox etc. Touch wood because I havn't got that money spare just now!!

yep spot on royal !!! id still keep mine if had a better income than im now on ,but we must all live within our means, and if that means no 2nd car for me then so be it , back downt to the diesel astra, but it is a turbo so will have some fun ,,lol but seriously ive looked at getting an evo 2 cheap very cheap near xmas, ,shame really , but if she dont sell then there will be a freefall of parts up for grabs, i knew what i was letting me self in for and i didnt expect the major probs ive had all at once tbh , but i stuck with it because if you can show me a car that looks this good , is as cheap to insure with mods declared goes as fast for the money , i will bite your arm off , theres nothing , trust me !!!

You've just hit the nail on the head! This is exactly the problem these days. Because the prices are so low the car becomes "available" to a group of people who (a) do not have money for something newer, (b) can just about afford the insurance after paying for the purchase of the car and © then abuse it like it's a souped up Nova. Bang goes the engine/turbo/whatever and there's no dosh for repairs. A bodge job is done to rectify what has gone wrong, but only just and the car is sold on for a far lower price than it should.

It's a bloody shame ... :(

Im chuffed my imported ZX was so cheap. It helps me as i am spending so much on it now to make it more uber!

Yeah thats great, but mine is moddified so not to break it,but still can be chipped (with boost controller)to run around 14psi on std turbo`s ,and that will be bloody quick.Any more and your looking at big fuel bills , turbo upgrades and traction control to keep on the road.

Anyway i want to sell it so i can build one with a V8 in it, as i have a chance of a cheap rolling shell..... :hyper:

I wouldnt say the supra is a better car nor quicker. Having driven a few of each i believe Supra,s look more modern. But the way they drive and feel is not a patch on a ZED. Plus you can pick early supra's for just over £3500. Nearly the same as a ZED but newer.

agreed:) bought the missus a supra and she hated it, and i wouldn't drive it

as it wasn't a patch on the zx, i wouldn't even say they looked more modern, i think many would agree the zx is a car that certainly compares in looks to many a modern day sports car

as a few have said car prices have fell out of bed big style, supra included

i nearly bought an xk8 a couple of years ago, really glad i didn't as they have nearly halved in price, i still might but much better price to grab one now:)

Perhaps then ,we are looking at a decrease in prices all over the Jap car scene ,not only the ZX 300 ?

What would be good if the insurance would drop , but then pigs might fly as well.....

Perhaps we have to many imported cars, and needs to be slowed down or reduced.....

it aint gonna happen m8, someone is making serious money from them

and the japanese goverment as well as clamping down on emmisions are giving incentives to the japanese public to buy new home grown cars to boost their own economy, bit like charity begins at home as long as there are muppets abroad buying our shite lol

Please don't break these wonderfull cars I've waited far far too long to get my little hands on one and just when I'm almost ready to buy people appear to be thinking of breaking them for bits. Roll on the end of June cos I'll have my money and will be fighting people off in order to get my pride and joy.

Sorry to piss on ya bonfire mate but registered user are not allowed to advertise on this forum. Yes, I realise your not directly trying to sell it on here. If you were, I wouldn't be writing this, I would have just deleted the thread. However, you are indirectly letting other members know what you own and that it's available.

If you were a subscribed member, you could avertise on here until the cows come home.

Cheers

Steve

Mmmmm now let me think Bird, dear Bird I don't want one like Bird's

I was worried that the steady rate of UK zeds being neglected and crashed would make parts more scarce and more expensive but if there are lots of imports coming in then wicked. World give us your zeds!
