Engine Cont fuse keeps blowing

Can anyone help me on this

Thanks

Featured Replies

did you do anything recently to the car before this started happening???

I have recently put a new engine in and sound system.

I was just checking all the fuses and noticed that this one was blown so I decided to put a new one in. As soon as I started the car , it blew.

What does this fuse do anyway??

Whateva help you can offer me will be great, thanks

Its there as a safety precuassion to stop engine or electrical fires when there is an abnormal heavy load or short of the main electrical system.

ย

1. Disconnect the sound system completely, this includes headunits and amps.

ย

2. Go over all the earthing point and make sure they are secure.

ย

3. Check any wiring looms running close to the engine bay and engine for breaks or bare wires.

ย

4. Replace fuse and switch on ignition, if the fuse is blowing as soon as the engine starts its probably the Altenator or Starter motor shorting.

I think my alternator is bad as the battery light is on the whole time. Do you think that this can be connected?

well its would be my first port of call, disconnect the connections from the back of it. the car should start and run under power from the battery for a short while. If the fuse blows again then its not the alt.

Thanks alot. you seem to know a lot about these cars. I am still learning but this forum is great as I learn new things every day.
