well i got so bored today i started ripping the panels out of the interior and cleaning them up ready for me to re-trim next week, however i got so carried away i started trimming them today..

the brackets that hold them are now covered in a lovely coat of silver hammerite as they had some surface rust on as in pic 1, a quick clean with a wire brush and paint and they look like new.

doing the rest of the panels this week, then.. when my under foam arrives from woolies coachtrim i can take the dash out and do that and the door cards.

all in all a good day!!

So is it vinyl or leather you've trimmed it up in fella? :)

its a fine grade leather, i got it from katzkin in the states. i also got some of the carbon fiber effect leather too, i think white-zed has still got my sample pack they sent me.

Looking at the site, did you get a kit or the leather as a hide?

And how much did it cost including the duty?

i got it as rolls of hide. the prices fluctuate i will dig my invoice out and tell you what i paid, also the rpice varies on the grades also and the effect pressed hides and vinyls are not cheap, i had to pay about 26quid to the courier for duty/taric when it arrived, i remember that bit!

i managed to get some professional grade spray adhesive, its the same mix as contact adhesive and the thinner agent in a can. i sprayed the fabric backing and cross coated it , let it dry for a bout 30 secs while i sprayed the trim former then i place the tip of one end to the new material and gently pulled the other end taught. then i slowly lowered the piece to the material. turned it, smoothed it , then put it back down and started pulling and trimming as i went. I did not make templates off the old ones as thats a waste of time, its better to pull and cut as you go making sure you have enough for the overlaps to the back and dont cut to close to edge or cuts will show.

will take pics as i go on the rest to show you what i mean, i should have taken them as i went really.. doh! :headvswal

Hmm cant find anywhere on net that sells red vinyl or leather by the roll. Anyone know of any websites i can get this from?

Looking very good Si. Given me some motivation to look at getting mine started after I get it back from being rebuilt! LOL

i was, no takers,

i spent some cash on tyres, battery, and a few other things and got them done

i also had to extra medical bills to pay for that i wasnt covered for. so i cashed in some bonds to pay them off so now im keeping her, doing the interior out and then getting the paint done then if need be re-list it, but to be honest i will now probably keep it for quite a while once all this is done as i wont get it back.
