Right you may have to bare with me on this one ;)

My turbos went and i took my car 2 probably one of the best turbo sepcialists in the country if not Europe.

They don't fit turbos as a rule just manufacture them to specification.

But we had a deal that they would fit them as i was going to try a new type of turbo and if it didn't fit which it didn't i would go for a second option which was a T28/T3 hybrid.

Anyway they had quoted me on fitting these turbos, while they had the engine out they said bottom end oil compression was low gaskets needed replacing and a 3 week job ended up 2 n half.

now what's happening they are saying they are not going to fit the engine back in there is no point as it needs work and that i should take it somewhere else. They are telling me that they have spent time troubleshooting the engine finding problems with it.

Now this is the part i need the help on as they are not fitting the engine or the turbos bac in i'm saying surely there isn't any labour charges to pay except removal as they havn't done anything else as far as i can see do you think i'm right? or should i believe they have spent x amount of time inspecting and troubleshooting the engine?

oil compression? or oil pressure? cant see that taking to long to check, even if fitting a calibrated tester. Gaskets needing replaced would have been a visual check (wouldnt take more than 10mins)

If they did a compression test, then that would take the longest but no more than an hour to do a hot and cold test.

Ask what exactly they did, and ask for the results from there findings, i.e. Comp figures, pressure figures, which gaskets etc etc?

Sounds to me like they had a look at fitting the turbo's and realised it wasnt an easy job as first thought!

Ask them why they felt oil pressure was an issue, as almost all Turbo Zeds run a low oil pressure at idle when hot compared to maybe the likes of honda's etc etc where most t3 hybrids are fitted these days.

If they were going with BB turbos lower oil pressure is suited, as most cars need oil restrictors put on the turbo oil feeds to stock the seals blowing.

Iv e fitted both Garret gt series turbos (BB) and non BB turbos to the likes of supra 7M engines which have an oil pressure of around 6 - 20psi at idle and never had any problems. With the High pressure engines like Toyota 3s's for example, restrictor rings have been needed in the feeds to reduce pressure, they cost about £3

SP should have read "....oil feeds to stop seals blowing"
