Hey there.

The situation:

If I pay someone a cheque which then goes on to bounce as there is no money in the account, how much will the recipient of the cheque get charged?

Or won't they? I suppose if they do though it depends on the bank so if anyone has any typical values that'd be great.

THEY don't YOU do

Normally if the cheque is private to another private individaul then it's the writer of the cheque who will incure the fee depending on which bank it is around the £25 mark.

However if the cheque is writen out to a company both could be charged.

Ok thats cool. I wrote a cheque which was linked to an account I didnt know I had. Sufficeto say it was empty. So I got charged 38 quid. I rang up the guy and told him what happened and arranged to pay in cash. I'm just worried that if he got charged too and his account was empty I'd end up having to owe loads of money for it.

ok cheers anyways.
