After 2004's disaterous rebuild and all my paint work scratched and chipped whilst it all took place. I decided to start again and do it properley.

It was tight getting it on the trailer, but I'll be driving her home soon.

Heads have been skimmed ans the inlets smoothed out ready to be polished. Same going to happen with Exhaust ports. New bronze stem gides should arrive Today or Monday, New uprated head studs, 88mm Silicon coated Westco Pistons, Eagle H beam fordged Rods, Toga racing big ends, nissan Motor sport High flow oil pump + i've had my Garret GT2837RS tubs serviced. So with all my other goodies this time it should be sorted in stead of cowboyed.

Phill at C & S woods want to run and test it for a week before I get it back. Then as soon as its run in He wants me to give it a week of pain before a final check over and of to Germany Nurburge here we come

If you plan to run more than 16 psi you'll need them as they are stonger and deliver much more oil to the crank jurnal. + the Nissan Sports High flow oil pump will help there too

Good luck with it Mark.

I may even be fitting that clutch soon

Thanks Greg

The proof of the pudding as they say will be the Germany trip :nana2:

Nice one Mark. Good to see it coming together after you're run of bad luck! :)

Thanks Leigh

I saw that monster lump of yours up at Leons this week. JD seemed pritty pleased with himself, but I must say its a lot tighter than I imagined as I never realized how wide an angle the V is. I'm sure if Leon says its no problem getting the headers past the steering it'll be fine but he must have small hands. Where's My exclusive pics of the new front end ;) See ya soon.

What happened with this 'disasterous rebuild'?

The bore was over honed Which ment that any psi above 7 and I looked like an 007 smoke screan had been switched on and the dipstick tried to fight its way out of the engine bay. The company that did the engine refused to cough up or rebuild because the Garage that fitted it and knacker up loads of stuff (Garage from Hell) had the engine 11 months and the car 10. It wouldn't run properly when i got it back so by the time we realised the warrenty was up and the skirts of my JE pistons were knackered.

Sad to see you've gotta go through all this expense again Bud

Least this time round with the parts yer using and the garage too plus these guys keeping it for a week to run it, is bob on ;) am sure you'll be well pleased with the result.

I know from my own last rebuild which wasn't entirely the best, if things do go wrong big time. am just gonna bite the bullet and have Kyle pucket in the US build me one and ship the fecker over !

Oh too have money

Thats it i don't, but after how much i've spent on the bleedin engine so far since i had it, i could have had 2 of his engines by now nearly, lol

Oh and i bought my Zed many years ago simply cos the previous owner had a BRAND NEW short block, with recon heads and box supplied and fitted by Nissan @ over 6 grand and just 36,000 miles earlier, but then he had an SE boost upgrade without using an aftermarket boost gauge, that was the start of rebuild No.1

All the best mark with yer plans,

Cheers Paul

I'm confident in Phil. He's the first supposedly Z garage I've been to that keeps ringing you and says, Hey we've got this done do you want to come and take some pic's before we move on. + he has given me dates when each stage will be complete and by Cricky I held him up be 2 days cos some parts I ordered were late other wise he's alway way ahead of what he says.

Like you though if it ever come to it again it'll be either a US built or Jap built mota by a well known tunning house. Like you say if I'd gone that way in the first place it would have been cheeper.

who is Kyle Pucket ?? sounds like a country and western singer ......

He was some years ago the holder of the fastest Zed in the US, built umpteen engines for race and draging since, also was co owner of SGP racing.

Kyle, Greg Dupree and Ash powers are the top guys in the US guys for tuning and development and you never see a single complaint about their workmanship ;)
