been to the docs today, ive been having pains in my chest and getting palpatations

gotta go next week for a heart trace, she says its nowt to worry about as everything is beating as it should be, but since there is heart disease in the family id be better off getting it checked out

also ive had a viral infection on my chest for weeks, which in typical fashion wasnt evident when at the docs :mac1: so ive got to get that checked out again also

strange thing is she turned round and said "do you think an inhaler would help", how the fook should i know im a plumber not a doctor lol

so thats where i stand with my health at the moment, anyone know what a heart trace consists of

I had an ECG thingy last year and an ultrasound sort of test last year. If I remember right the ECG is the one where they stick suckers on your chest and sensors on your pulse points - not uncomfortable but I had some interesting perfectly round bruises for a week or so.

The 'ultrasound' test was more bizarre though - used the same kit they use on pregnant women so I could actually watch my heart beating and the valves opening and closing on the screen!!! Weird sh!t I can tell you. Again though, nothing to it.

I have to say its best to know for sure whats going on though, mine wasn't anything like yours - mine was to check a physical abnormality with my heart. Turns out my plumbing is different to the norm but it all works ok

Good luck to you.

Might as well put you down now.

But if you do go make sure your drifting over a cliff in a hail of lazer beams.

cheers bud, probably all the shit ive taken and drank over the years too lol

Palpatations can be caused by stress, anxiety, booze, smoking, binge eating/drinking, caffeine, chocolate luxuries etc.

The test involves ecg or ekg and x-ray of your chest or they could hook up a holter monitor to progress when it happens and why.

Palpatations will not affect your life span.

but also it could mean there is a more serious problem which is why you have to go see a cardiologist so it can be ruled out.

Just don't worry too much as that will cause them too, pmsl.

yeah its like the time i went too the docs at short notice for a check up, they said if you could be here in twenty mins they could fit me in, so i dashed around like crazy and got there, they took my blood pressure and it was sky high  what did they expect its usually a twenty min drive just to get there lol

Mate the booze can't be doing it any good.

I told the doctor what I drink a week and she went nuts. Think you're on more than me too. Gotta knock it on the head or seriously cut down. Otherwise you court hideous disease and an early death,

ive actaully cut it down immensely, but i do knock it back at weekends or partys, but only have a couple during the week if ive had a hard day

but do see where you are coming from, must get back to the gym, but work on cardiovasculor rather than lifting weights and body building

Oh you barsteward.

I always think "I may be a p1sshead but at least StellaZ is worse." Can't use that excuse anymore.

Seriously though, well done cutting down.

Does cutting down mean drinking lots more little stubby bottles instead of a few big cans ? :D

Hope your ok mate

have i got my web cam switched on again lol

Good luck Stella.

I had a similar problem 3-4 years ago, my heart rate would also fly up to over 120 for no apparent reason and would not return to normal for ages, leaving me feel dizzy and dis-orientated.

I had various blood tests, blood pressure and ECGs, nothing showed up at all.

I saw a cardio specialist and had a 24 hour ECG which also came up with nothing - whilst my heart rate would race it was always regular and my bloos pressure was a healthy 120 over 80

I stopped drinking coffee and what do you know - no problems since.

So I only take decaf now, don't drink diet coke anymore and all is well.

Hopefully your problem is just as insignificant too mate.

All the best

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
