was watching Top gear last night and the konsiagionlyieg hehe has 800 odd bhp but if converted to bio thingy bobby would have 900 odd bhp.

 

so by converting to the eco friendly poo gas you actually get more power am i missing something here?

I think he was probably referring to bio-fuel thats mostly petrol, part alcohol. Because of the alcohol the petrol burns cooler so you can run more boost with less cooling. I've heard that if you converted a turbo to run on pure alcohol then you can do away with intercoolers completely, although when running alcohol you have to inject about twice as much as with petrol and most cars have lots of bits and gaskets that are attacked by alcohol.

that bio-fuel is called E85 and is 15% regular fuel mixed with 85% ethanol.

It has an octane rating of approx 115RON so you can run more advanced timing = more power.

 

trouble is, ethanol eats through fuellines and injectors and you need more of it (just like alcohol).

So you need larger injectors, special fuellines and pump to get the most out of it.

That confused me too, eco fuel = more power. Just didnt make sense lol.

and thats why LPG cars have a reputation of running rough.. its because instead of having a map for petrol and a map for 114 octane lpg which requires more advance, they buy a crap system with one map and an ECU that cant make the distinction.

 

get a propper system fitted to take advantage of both or now you can even get a system that can be started on LPG and do away with petrol all together!

there are a couple of campanies that sell systems for LPG conversion for "sports cars"

115RON with proper timing and LPG is avalable at most stations now as opposed to optimax etc.

 

the hybrids are gona come over not very eco friendly in about say 10 years time when heaps of them are scraped. that ethonol is corosive. engines, tanks, fuel lines are all gona corrode.

that's right, biofuel is a fuel-alcopop mix and lpg is the by-product of making petrol.

Who cares about the science bit! That car was the b011ox, I want one. I loved the old one they had on a few years back but that was mind blowing. Strange that a car as radical and mental as that should come from a country where they hate cars.

Be interesting to see how it goes with a rear spoiler - must feel like a dragster/rocket.
