Just swapping a kitchen light for a new one and the exisiting fitting seems to be using the earth wires as a neutral and the neutral wire as an earth for the light fitting, WTF?????

 

I'm not up to date with the eleccy regs at the mo' but this has got to be wrong.

yep ,thats what i thought, just checked one of the other lights in the house and that seems to be wired normally, must have been the fvcker that lived here before, no wonder the damn thing kept flickering.

That's still wrong under the new regs. Somebody was naughty ! :shock:

 

If you're sure they wired them a$$ about face, then I would correct it when you put the new fitting up. Anyone checking earth leakage should spot that one as well, not to mention it's dangerous :eek:

yep, ive swapped them round and the new lights works fine, just about to do the other in the utility

Green/black colour blind LOL!

Just done the other light, which was wired correctly, the guy must have had a dose of brain fade.

Or added a second light fitting with a bit of wire he found down the back of the sofa.

Wire colours are-Brown to green and yellow, blue to bits.
