Hi all

My stock oil pressure gauge is totaly rubbish and doesnt work most the time. I have bought a set of guages one being an oil pressure gauge with its sender. I'm not bothered about the oem gauge so im just going to get rid of the old sender and fit my new one in its place (connected to new gauge).

I will probably experiment with connecting the oem gauge to the new sender as well as the aftermarket one as the voltage should remain the same so they should both work.

I was wondering though if the ecu monitors oil pressure like it monitors water temp etc, if so what effects could this have? Also is there anything else important connected to the stock oil pressure sender or can i just chuck it?

Next question is what size thread does the stock sender have? So i know if the new one will go straight in or not.

Many thanks, Ed

Right then, just searched through all the oil pressure sender posts. I now know that the sender is either above the oil filter or on the passenger side near the engine mount. My car is an early one so its quite possible that the sender will be above the oil filter. What I now want to know is are both the possible sender positions the same size thread? If my car is an early one and the sender is above the filter can I still fit my sender on the passenger side or is that not an option? I dont really want to fit my sender above the oil filter as it looks like a cow to get to and has issues with the steering rack.

Hopefully it will be on the passenger side and be easy to get to! I'd rather just bin the nissan one and put my new sender straight in but its never that easy!

I have been under the car this morning and its on the passenger side yey! I pulled off the rubber and found that only one of the two wires was connected. There is a white wire and a black wire. The black wire was not connected and had been taped off. Am I right in thinking that the sender only needs one wire going to it and it is earthed through the block? If so why does the connecter on the sender have 2 pins? The plug only has one in it so I dont think the black wire has ever been connected. My gauge does work just only about 20% of the time.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

any update on this? thinking about doing the same, mine stopped working this weekend.

My sender only has 1 wire connected and it only works now and again. I'd like to know about replacing it aswell.

Cheers Nail it :)

this one doesnt seem to have a seal which i would have thought would be important :nono:
