ive developed a stalling problem today and being new to these superb cars i wondered if anyone might have a clue.it only happened twice but it was when she was hot and switching from drive to reverse it run very lumpy then cut out but restarted straight away no worries.then sitting in loads of traffic i put her in neutral then when i selected drive she tried to cut out for a split second.every now and then she ticks over a slight bit lumpy but nothing to worry about but 95 % of the time shes spot on .any ideas.

I know what you mean Wayne, there was occasionally a hesitation when pulling away. Although it only ever stalled a couple of times and this was only when putting it in to reverse.

A few people on here find the revs dropping and the Autobox hesitating a little sometimes.

If you do a search you should be able to find a list of possible causes.

I hope that helps...

I take it from what you have said its an auto, have you checked the oil in it properly? by that I mean while the engine is running. If its very low it can cause that.

No worries,

If that doesn't solve it then do a search on here for those symptoms. I'm sure you will find it...

if u find out why its doing it, can u tell me, beacause its been happening to mine, mine does stall all the time tho. When i stop at traffic lights the cars revs drop to zero and cut out.

Stalling and hesitation can be caused by so many things, but more than often its down to a Vacumn leak

check your dump valves, the springs in them weaken over time and you'll get vacuum leaks.

i've worked on a few turbo cars recently with idle problems, and all were caused by weakened dump valve springs.

you need to dismantle the dump valve, remove the spring and carefully stretch it to double its length, then reassemble dump valve.

NB: this is only a temporary solution, the spring really needs to be replaced as it will have been permanently weakened.

also if you're not competant with cars, get someone else to do it who is, i take no responsibility if you screw your car/parts up.
