Can one of you techies let me know how I could make a video CD from a VHS cassette or from a DVD (which would not be a commercial DVD obviously).

What gear would I need and how much time do you get recorded on one ?

Thanks

Dave

For clarity, what do you want to play this Video CD on?

There are so many formats which can provide video from a CD (e.g.) on a PC - or other device. What is your target?

You can always check out www.vcdhelp.com, plus you are gonna need a capture card. Best thing to do is look at the ATI All-in-Wonder Products. They do most of what you are going to need and they are a Graphics card to boot. You can get dedicated boards for the job but it maybe an issue if you dont have the space in your case....Feel free to drop me a line if you wanna know more.

Hairsy,

Have a look at http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/index.html

It can be done but is generally more effort than it work TBH. Or so I have found anyway.

I want to play them on a DVD player which says that it is Video CD compatible. Not on a PC though.
