got rear ended (oo-err) on the way home fro work. To cut a medium sized story short i phoned this guys insureers and they said youve got to tell your own first. So i phones mine and they want to know if I want to go through my own first or wait for his insurers to cough up.

Any advice?

I said surely if i go through mine then you'll count that as a claim, and he said non fault acciddents will not affect my insurance no claims or policy price.

so i said if thats the case why when i ring up for a quote do you ask if ive been in an accidednt either my fault or not?? he waffles some *****x i didnt really catch and i said let me think about it.

If you go through insurance you will report the accident to them and provide them with the other parties details and they process the claim between themselves. In the meantime you will have to pay your excess to the repairers that they have agreed on. When the claim is resolved, ie the other party accept liability, then you will get your excess refunded. This should not affect your policy.

I've done it both ways (easy tiger... ) in the last 13 months and prefered claiming off the other persons insurance, didn't have to pay any excess and your insurance company will not try and take your NCB like they did mine

claim on his. thats why he has it.

When somebody rear ended me it was all done on there insurance, but I did let mine know as well which I had free legal expenses and had a free solicitor getting my money and also advising me.

I have never had it up my rear end so can't offer any advice.

Ive been involved in 2 non-fault accidents in just over 12 months and i have always sought the advice of this chap...

Pete

if your rear ended its the other drivers fault 100%

go through a no win no fee place like helphire and take his insurance company to the cleaners, dont involve your insurance company
