I need to repair or change the driver's side lock on a Rover 214 as I'm getting rid of it for a Z. I'm on the Surrey/Hampshire border know anyone who can help in my area.

 

(I bet your wondering if i've ever driven anything more powerfull yes is the answer TVR and RX7's) :D :D

hmmm,best bet is to ask a locksmith,or if its just the barrel thats been scredrivered remove it yourself,take it to a competant locksmith to order new inards and re-key it using your existing key,if you was closer mate id sort it for you for a small charge,unless you want to travel down nr bristol and il help ya out ;)

I think the locksmith will have to do. It's driving me screwie. I've had the inside panel off today, in order to see how easy it is to get out. Husband keeps saying Get the locksmith you cann't attempt everything. But I shall prove him wrong, take it out, and refer to locksmith as you say.

if they say they cant order a replacement barrel for that particular model,give me a shout and il get you on,you could even send it with your key and il fit new wafers and springs and re-key to match existing locks :D

Its only a wire clip that holds the barrel in on these , disconnect the lock rod which should have a clevis securing it and prise the wire clip downwards , the barrel will pull straight out , re-furb or replace the barrel .

Re-fit the wire clip in the door handle , push the barrel in and it will clip into place , re-fit the rod and hey presto one sorted lock :hyper: HTH

I've read my manual, had a good look, will be removing it tomorrow. Doesn't look too hard a job. I've found a car locksmith 2 mins walk away who'll then sort it, so I can replace it.. Special thanks "GREG" for your extremely kind offer.
