Hi there guys. Always valued your advice in the past, so here I am again.

I want to sort the rear spoiler on my '91 TT Import. Y'know, bubbling up cracking, common thing it would seem. Easy to remove?, no need to remove? Special rubberised flexi paint? Does such a thing exist? Basecoat and laquer?

Chaps, I'm clueless, but would like to get it right. Plenty of life in my fair lady yet, so, tryin' to keep her sharp.

Cheers me bucko's.

the spoiler is knackered once the paint has started peeling, no point in respraying it will come off again soon. the zcentre sell fibreglass replica's of the stock spoiler, they are much better, lighter and wont degrade like the origonal.

The origonal is a son of a bitch to remove as I found out, I certainly won't be putting another one of those monstrocities on though :D

Is the spoiler for show only or does it actually help grip? I'd imagine the former.

Remember Mac saying he has driven one with a spoiler at high speed and one without and its only then you notice that it does anything. The one without a spoiler was a bit unstable I think?

So yes it is there for a reason.

There is such a paint but it is only used as a primmer/undercoat.and its exspensive and needs to be diluted with the correct thinners to match plus thers the ech coat as well befor this is aplied the working surface needs to be suitable, to be true unless you replace with a new spoiler trying to get round this one you well regret.best way to think about this is as soon that spoiler comes of you are going to have to spend a good few hundred £ on her no matter what option you go for,

I have the same problem, the spoiler on my import is knackered too. I'm thinking of just changing the whole tailgate as it will work out cheaper than buying a spoiler and getting it painted etc, must less hassle.

So if anyone is breaking a lwb red z with a decent rear spoiler i want your tail gate!

I found one the other day with looked promising but the tailgate was not in as gooder condition as i wanted
