Was talking to someone at work today who has a aftermarket dump valve and he says it reduces lag on the turbos?

Is this correct for our cars?? or is he talking sh1te?

It's bull mate or not quiet correct... The only lag it reduces is on the gear changes when the turbo is at full chat... When it blow off it's designed to reduce compressor stall, i.e stops the compressor from slowing down... When you get back on the throttle the turbo is still spinning quiet quickly so i.e reduces lag that way...

you can of course look at it the other way and say that the is now no air to go in to the engine and the turbo has to pressure up again, which increases lag, differences are marginal though.

So on full chat it does a little, but not enough to warrant buying them if I dont have loadsa money?
