I have just been thinking of selling my Zed and getting a MR2 Turbo (a little more practical i think)...

What are your guys thoughts?

What should i look out for? or should i rubbish the idea and stick to my Zed..

Have many of you owned a MR2Turbo? or thought about it?

Have had mine for a few years now, I own both, the MR-2 has proven to be more reliable and an everyday use car.

Servicing an MR-2 Tubby is much easier aswell do most things myself. Plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm all very easy to get to.

If you do go for it I would say try and get a Rev. 3 which is 245bhp over mine with is 220bhp.

I have had a couple of 2s. I also agree. The only model nowadays worth any decent money is a Rev 3 +. Dont go for a heavily modified one as it is guaranteed to be ragged about. I think 2s are great, they are reliable as long as you dont go playing around with stupid boost levels. Same as any other turbo car really.

As a day to day car you would probably be best with the GT Turbo model as that came with half leather and aircon as standard whereas they where options with the GTS. Thats the only real difference between the 2 models and one has LSD but can remember as this depends on age too.

You shouldnt be as much on petrol as your Z. If you want something a bit more practical and looks amazing go for a....................

what are your guys idea of praticle ?

a Large 2+2 with big boost versus a tiny 2seater

To me a practical car is something that you dont look at the petrol gauge and think wheres the next petrol station.

Having the 2 is also practical that you dont have to give any lifts home lol

Yeah and the boot on the 2 isn't as small as you might thing! ;)

Saying that couldn't ever get much in my 300 boot either.

i know what u mean with the fuel thing... i like the idea of being able to use the car without thinking how much it drinks...

The ZX looks soo much better though...

i was thinking of doing this to it....

i know what u might be thinking about 355 kits... but this one has some great reviews and actually looks like a ferarri

Yep I was thinking of getting shot of my old 89 Mister 2 Tubby, getting a pukka Rev. 3 with low mileage and doing the same! ;)

It just looks like a real quality kit - all the dimensions are spot on and they do an interior conversion to match the 355... take a look on 355.com for the comparisons of all the kits and see...

Its obvious to tell unless you are young kid. If you wanna go for a car like that, buy it already done. Save you a lot of hassle.

IMO buy a car for what it is.

Why would you want to make an Mr2 look like a ferrari?? To make people go WOW!! look a Ferrari then look closer and LOL and say nah it's not it's just a Mr2 done up to look like one. IMHO Its like dressing a sheep in wolfes clothing.

i know what u mean Dave... but i have always loved the ferarri... i will never be able to afford one - so its the next best thing...

I get the same thing now though...

people go WOW... whats that car it looks great

Then they look a bit closer and see its a Nissan...

i had a MR2 REV3 N/A before my Zed TT..

I loved my MR2 and i still do love them..prefer my Zed now obviously as i have more power etc..and prefer the shape...

I would consider another 2 but it would have to be a Turbo..(how do they fair against Zed TT's as in acceleration?)

But i have to say i have a LOT more comments and people asking about my Zed!

The wifes rev2 Turbo would eat my Auto TT from the lights!-then I would leave the 2' around 50mph.

You gotta be joking? With the rear seat down I've moved house in my Zed!! Two surf boards, several massive suitcases, tools, absolutely all sorts was squashed in there. Surprised myself actually at how much space there was. :)

There was an MR2 in Plymouth with what was supposed to be a good ferrari kit, just looked silly to me. I think its better just making whats there better with a nice body kit etc, not try to make it look like an 100k car because it never will.

Whatever floats your boat? MR2's are a nice car. But then again so are skylines and supras and gto's and .............................................300ZX's. I am lucky mine is just a great big toy and my everyday use car is a Volvo T5 Estate. Now that is a practicle car..... :)

Im just about to sell my mr2 turbo to save up funds for a zed i have a rev 1 but with some sensible mods i managed to achive 268bhp at the wheels @ 1 bar.I would say its the best car i have ever owned but the call of twin turbos is to hard to ignore lol.

what are all the differences between the Rev1 rev2 and rev3??

I've had 3 Mr2's and liked them all although i liked the mark one better, especially the supercharged version which are getting harder to find,it was miles better to drive than the mark 2,more like a go-cart :)

I've had a few Jap sports cars and the 300zx is the best yet,i have an N/A 300 and "touch wood" its been extremely reliable but as DaveG said fuel consumption is greater on the 300 but i wouldn't give up the note of a V6.

IMHO the 300 has everything the Mr2 has and then some, but at the same time i'd have another one tomorrow........and park it next to the Zed

Ron

i wish i could start a little car collection too..... But my drive aint big enough!
