Right guys, I need your considered advice and expertise; I want to put in three extra gauges in the extra DIN slot so:

 

1. Where can i get gauges that look STOCK (i.e. same colours and intensity of lighting - completely stock to match speedo).

 

2. Which gauges are recommended?

 

3. Most people say go for water temp gauge - isnt the Oil temp the important thing?

 

4. I was thinking of getting two analogue gauges and one digital readout - does anyone know of any readout that looks like the display in the aircon system on a series II (i.e the Blue digital readout)?

The TIM ones look close to stock if i remember correctly, Id go for water and oil temp, oil pressure and boost as a minimum

If you have the dosh go for the Defi Link BFs ive just bought a set and they are the dogs dangalies.

All singing and dancing when you switch on and off.

Have you got a 60mm DIN slot? The only gauge holders i can find are 52mm!

No these are 52mm and i dash mounted them as they come with their own pods.

LOL as you can see im still fitting them.

I bought them localy RSE motorsport as i needed them desperatly as i had no oil pressure gauge after fitting my new turbos.

The stock water temp and oil pressure gauges are famously unreliable, hence why so many fit aftermarket.

 

Most usefull (in order):

 

boost

Water temp

oil pressure

oil temp

 

If your going to fit them in your DIN panel, then I would recomend getting gauges that offer Peak warning features, as you wont be able to keep an eye on them from down there, but at least they will light up and/or make an audible sound if something is wrong.

theres two types of defi gauges available the BF range which steve has they only come in 60mm & the defi link system range which come in 52mm,60mm,80mm & 115mm option of black/white face, plus you have to buy a control unit to run any defi gauge, blitz do some very nice gauges as well but are a bit pricey.

Allthough im now thinking of putting my boost gauge on a single A pillar pod

and putting a oil temp where he boost is,so i have the 3 across the dash and 1 on the A pillar.

They are expensive for a reason :bow:
