Are their any propshaft specialists in the east south-east of the country that can repair a U/J

Its easy Mate

All you need is a big vice and a socket which will fit the 4 holes where the UJ's

bearings sit. They are usually needle rollers your machine shop or nissan dealer will provide you with a repair kit. All you do is press out the old and press in the new job done.

There is a place in Luton that specialises in props. Can't remember their name at the moment ....

I've spoken to these guys.

He says they replace the whole end including the splined tube for a cosworth spec item. Not cheap. I think £250 was mentioned.

The problem with the U/J is it's a staked joint ie unservicable. They CAN be repaired but these specialists don't like doing it for safety reasons.

I've put my prop back in with just a new center bearing and "hey presto" no more vibrations. I guess I got lucky. Car runs smooth as silk.

Yeah of course safety reasons :D

Oh and financial reasons .. its easier and less time consuming to sell you new

but if it your time why not

Us miserable old gits are useful ..we are arguing for things to stay a little human and serviceable a little longer...a free car with every new insurance policy ..suite you sir... ;)

I'm with you on that John.

Have you ever done one of these U/J's?

I was wondering how to re-seal the U/J back in and where to source the bearings.

Nissan are their usual unhelpful selves.

Tell them its an import and you can here the silver bullet coming down the phoneline.
