Been speaking with many members about doing some sort of family based meet this summer, i along with others feel that many of the meets we all arranged (car parks etc) just don't appeal to the wife & kids to join in.

How's about sorting something (could become an annual event) where the meet is purely geared towards families ? I'd like to hear from members about their thoughts on this, and thoughts on a venue. Here is a few to start off with.

RAF Airshow - kids would love it (as well as the dads :D) loads of parking & room to picnic etc (anyone got any info on the shows ?)

Theme Park - Maybe not as great as there would be a problem with parking and place being busy.

Country Park - big BBQ picnic type thing.

Let me know your thoughts and hopefully it'll turn into another date on the callender (if Scotty sent you one :slap: :D )

Sounds like a great idea.

I have my kids every other weekend, so if a show falls on these dates, then I would probably not attend, as I know the kids will be bored, and half way through the day it'll be "When are we going home?" which is the bit I want to avoid :D

I'm not being selfish about it, but I want to enjoy the time with the kids and also enjoy a show.

Huge airshow at RAF Fairford, apparently the biggest in the world! Royal International Air Tattoo. 15-16 July. I guess the one problem would be parking together unless people met up prior to queueing. Not cheap, over £30 each in advance, £36 on the day however under 16's are free! Quite central as well.

One of my clients runs the Biggin Hill Airshow which is 3rd & 4th June this year. I should be able to get us a cheap deal on tickets and maybe even a club stand (there is a "classic" car element to the show this year as well) ;) There is also a huge funfair and plenty for the kids to do and see...

This is abviously based in the SE, but it's about 20 mins off the M25 so not too tricky to get to...

For me with Kids involved Steve would have to be right bang in the middle of England (if not a lot of scotsdecided to come) gotta think of the kids for traveling.

what about waddington in lincs? 1st july

Loads of places on here http://www.militaryairshows.co.uk/venues.htm but it doesnt have to be a Air show that was just an idea put forward :)

including the paper aeroplane championships!!!

massive air show in southend boys and girls.

Alton Towers would be good and is pretty central.

But:

I doubt we'd be allowed to have a BBQ in the grounds.

Mac and Chunk wouldn't fit in any of the rides

There is a huge RAF air museum at Duxford.

They have regular shows and fly loads (I mean loads) of cool planes.

People go and park up in surrounding lanes.

We could meet in a lane, have a BBQ and see the planes for nawt.

You near kids :x: you'd need to get off "the register" first mate

:D and by the way, this was my idea months ago for the Ferrybridge "stand in a cold motorway service station car park bored stiff before driving to another photogenic car park" meet! LOL
