well i was on rt 95 in NJ wen i floored it 1st 2nd then 3rd at about 4 or 5k mybe 90 or so mph the Z turned off. (gave a lil pop before it stopped not a loud pop( no smoke no fire no oil on the ground)... no brakes or anything! got it safly on the side of the highway and tryed to fire it up and it wont just cranks..... i was not hearing the fuel pump "wine".. so i assumed it was the pump just gone bad....got it towed home and changed the fuel pump (to a walbro 255 high pressure" the tried to fire it but no luck.... tryed to push start it and it "sounds like"it on but its not realy i dont know how to explain then turns off. so i pulled the spark plugs so i can see how they look and let the motor air out i might have flooded it while trying to crank it.. they looked fine a bit black but fine they have mybe 1k on them..... so tomoro i will put the plugs back and see it fires....

about a week ago it would not start also (after installing the boost controller) we tried firing it up for about 2 hours then we gave up let about 2-3 hours later i was like im going to see it it starts and it did wtf!

can it be the PTU i was reading some treads and it said cheack the PTU.... i will see tomoro.... how can i tell if the PTU is bad?

my question is what is wrong and could i have harmed the motor becuase i was going fast when this happened?

thanks guys

So did you have it running again, not quite sure what your saying??

Could possibly be the PTU or a number of electrical problems. Do an engine diagnostic first, this can be done in the car. Do a search on the forum if your not sure how and see what, if any fault codes you get. Should be a list of codes here somewhere.

Andy

no i never got it running, i am about to go out now and work on it a lil , but i dunno how can i tell if the PTU is bad?

check the connector on the CAS as well...it's not uncommon that it just falls off or comes loose, because the metal clip has gone.

PTU only really shuts the engine down if the engine is hot.

Usually have to wait for it to cool down then it runs till it heats up again.

I think someone was selling a series 2 PTU on here a few days ago..

Series II ptu's are pretty cheap in the US as postage from Courtesy is cheap.

I was driving down I95 in NJ last week !

wuts funny about driving on I95 in NJ ???? lol

Not much but come and drive the M25 here when you're over if you want a laugh.

Does the engine sound like its trying to start or is it just turning over and not firing at all?

Take the plugs out one by one and see if you get a spark when you turn it over?

ECU diagnostics might show a faulty PTU if it's a serious fault with it.

Just co-incidence really, kind of a long way from home for me ....

it cranks like it wants to start but it dose not.....

just ran the ecu codes on my Z, code 11 came up which is the CAS, i unpluged it and cleaned it but still reads the code and will not fire it, should i get a new one or take out the whole cas and put it back in and see???

:nelson: i know this is gonna sound stupid but this happened to me just after i bought my z and it was a fooking fuse in the little fuse box on the top bulkhead drivers side hope i dont sound a twit but could it be :o
