My bro is well into his computers and he is the chief engineer/builder at a computer shop. He's looking at getting a different job as his isn't good enough pay for the workload but he has no qualifications to say he can do it. Now he's talking about MSCE courses. Has anyone done one of these or similar? Where is the best place to go?

Any help appreciated :duffer:

Yep. He will find tho that the MCSE is very different to fixing PC's in a shop. The MCSE is very undervalued now because there are so many of them...bit like a Corsa. I cannot recommend a good trainer tho as they have all changed and there are so many cowboy organisations popping up all the time. Best to go for one of the big ones, will cost more but the training will be better...

All my opinion of course...

Networking is a good career, a couple of CISCO courses and a bit of info about routing and he will be making shite loads of money in a year or so,

Get him to look at the A+/Network+ ones first.

If he wants to get into support take a look at the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician course.

Looking at the MCSE on your own back is expensive - i did mine a few years ago & an instructor lead training course with combination home study & 2 week boot camp was about £5000

i was looking at getting into networking, im sh1t hot at fixing pc's and not too bad at networking which ones do you reckon are the best mike?

Yeah he can do networking and would like to get into that side as well. Mike, do you know anywhere to do these courses? Have you got any links?

I sat my MCDST and the Dell DCSE courses.

I was going for my MCSE but my company couldnt afford it :(

Im now studying wireless security and CEH (Certified Ethical Hacking).

MCSE as someone above said is VERY different to repairing PCs in a shop. He will need to be familiar with infrastructures, DHCP, DNS, etc etc etc.

All the best to him tho' - its getting dog eat dog out there - really you need to try and specialise in something not many people are doing.

Yeah he wants to get into web design and games design if he can but no good without the qualifications. He's done a few websites already.
